Job Overview
As a member of the Digital Data Networks (DDN) business in TE Connectivity you will play a key role in leading a team of engineers to design and develop products for Power used in power distribution in the data center architecture. You will be responsible for leading team through all aspects of the new product design and development process from market definition through production and release. You will also be responsible for leading your team to successfully achieve business objectives in a dynamic business environment while fostering a culture of high performance, speed, service, innovation, and employee wellbeing.
Job Requirements
- Lead the global team in the development of Connector Power solutions from market definition through production and release, including things such as:
- Working closely with the customer and TE sales/SA/FAE/PM in getting the right and clear VOC (voice of customer) and converting that to a TE design conceptualization and preliminary product specification.
- Conceiving concepts and performing feasibility studies.
- Running mechanical and thermal simulations.
- Making the engineering evaluation/proposal to the customer.
- Creating the detailed design, including 2D/3D drawings, and performing DFMEA/tolerance analysis.
- Building prototype samples and performing validation.
- Completing product qualifications and finalizing product specifications.
- Providing technical support to the operations, MPDE, quality, and production teams for efficiency improvement and safe launch.
- Proficient in copper rigid Connector/flexible Connector (copper foil and braided wire) manufacturing processes, including forming/lamination/welding, with the ability to manage sample quoting, technical support, and delivery risk reduction.
- Proficient in safety, including connector reliability and UL testing.
- Resolving product-related issues to closure and managing the ECN/PCN (Engineering Change Notification/ Product Change Notification).
- Aid your global team in building a deep understanding of the market and customer needs by fostering a connection between the business engineering teams, system architecture, and the customer engineering teams.
- Drive your global team to maintain a system-level understanding of the customer application and the product design/concept necessary for providing a solution to the customers’ expectation including optimizing the solution.
- Monitor that your team is following the LEANPD Project Process to support the project team from the product development engineering (PDE) perspective to complete the new product development project on time, quality, and budget.
- Effectively lead a global/ regional team of engineers of varying levels of experience with different backgrounds, experiences, and cultures.
- Drive high performance by providing your team with routine coaching and feedback, holding your team accountable to meet performance objectives, and providing meaningful development to increase individual/team capability.
- Manage employee well-being by prioritizing work, effectively managing resource loading, and providing flexibility to enable employees to successfully balance their work and personal lives.
- Drive organization effectiveness by structuring your organization in a way that best enables the BU strategy, maximizes resource efficiency and productivity, and provides role clarity and clear lines of accountability.

What your background should look like
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/ Electrical Engineering or equivalent; Master's Degree preferred
- Generally, requires 15 years of relevant work experience in new product design with electrical components, electrical devices, mechanical structure design, manufacturing tooling development (stamping, molding, assembly, plating), or manufacturing process development. (Candidates with a Master’s or PhD may be considered with fewer years of experience, depending on the relevance of their academic background to the role.)
- Generally, requires a minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership and global people management experience.
- Knowledge in Power architectures, Power distribution units, Connector or connector design, or other relevant mechanical design and development, including but not limited to, material selection, tolerance analysis, DFMEA, product qualification, etc.
- Proficient in 3D CAD applications (Creo preferred) with experience in 3D solid modeling, including sheet metal, 2-D drawings, PDM link Data Manager, and general knowledge in design applications such as Spaceclaim, Solidworks, or others used only in the concept stage.
- Proficient in geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T).
- Proficient at limit and fit analysis, including statistical tolerance analysis.
- Proficient user of finite element analysis software (Ansys, Workbench), including elastic and plastic behavior of metals.
- Proficient in developing and writing design objectives for product specifications.
- In-depth knowledge in manufacturing processes (machining, molding, stamping, plating, assembly, etc.) with experience driving Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and best practices.
- Experienced in leading teams with responsibility for the full product development cycle, from establishing customer requirements to releasing a qualified design to production.
- Solid understanding of competitive products and intellectual property positions.
- Familiarity with switch and or server equipment.
- Proficient use of quality tools (FMEA, 6 sigma, DOE, 8D, etc.).
- Fluent in English (both verbal and written) to facilitate global communication, internally and with customers.
- Ability to work in a global environment – able to accommodate varying time zones and capable of collaborating with individuals across geographies.
- Expert problem solver – able to handle high complexity situations and use data analytics and critical thinking to reach logical conclusions with limited direction.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with an ability to manage and execute multiple tasks/deadlines/projects simultaneously with limited direction.
- Proven ability to translate business strategy into meaningful action plans.
- Strong collaboration and influencing skills, with a proven track record of forging solid relationships across organizations and with senior management.
- Advanced communication and presentation skills – a convincing communicator able to drive engagement and excitement both up and down the organization.
- Proficient in using MS Office software (Word, Excel, PPT, Outlook, MS Teams, etc.).

COMPENSATION
• Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $180,400 – $270,500 (subject to change dependent on physical location)
• Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
