Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s Global Advanced Quality Engineering Director is responsible for deploying the overall global new product introduction program for the Aerospace Defense and Marine (AD&M) business unit within TE. This role drives Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) from start of a new program through successful Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and Safe Launch Containment and Engineering Change Notices.

 

You will utilize APQP methodologies to capture past failure modes from lessons learned and new modes related to innovations in design and processing.  As an expert in effective collaboration, you will work as a liaison between Engineering, the Plants, Program Managers, and Supply Chain. In this role, you are accountable for the implementation of Quality Assurance processes and discipline throughout the New Product Introduction Stage Gate Process. You will also be the primary liaison between the TE AD&M Business Unti and TE Corp Center of Excellence on Advanced Quality Engineering, and responsible for continuing to align and mature AD&M’s NPD Stage Gate processes and tools.

 

In addition, this role will work to bring Quality Assurance enablers, systems, and tools to life at AD&M. This will include AI insertion into Quality for step function improvements in improving critical KPIs such as: Customer Complaints, Supplier Complaints, COPQ, Block Stock Management, and NOEs. This role will also oversee improvements in data analytics and their delivery, digital quality tools, and QMS system improvements as they pertain to interface points with Engineering and the NPD process. 

 

The role of the AQE is to work with a cross functional team to implement a new part, product, or process with a ‘turnkey’ sustainable quality process at product launch for the factory to agree to and take ownership of executing the quality agenda. This position reports to the Sr. Director of Global Quality for AD&M. 

Key Responsibilities

•    Lead a global team of advanced quality engineers in support of all new product introductions for the AD&M global business unit
•    Own the flow down of supplier APQP governance and supplier PPAP approval working closely with NPI procurement teams
•    Provide Quality Assurance deliverables across the Stage Gate New Product Development Process ensuring strict adherence to completion of all Gate requirements.
•    Serve as the liaison between engineering and the plants on new product introductions to ensure robust process capability on all programs
•    Ensure optimization of resources to support AD&M NPD projects. 
•    Attend PAC Meetings and provide approvals or actions to gap closure on project reviews. 
•    Document the results for specific program characteristics and ensure that internal and external requirements are met.
•    Confirm production / operational readiness through manufacturing maturity assessment / audit before launch, confirming operator readiness, Operator standard work and inspection plans in place. 
•    Provide tool sets and training materials needed to support the APQP process and PPAP implementation in AD&M Plants 
•    Lead the insertion of AI tools into Quality across AD&M by working closely with TE Corp, TEIS, and other major functions to realize improved quality and greater efficiency.
•    Improve the collection and delivery of quality data /KPIs across AD&M 
•    Ensure successful project management of Quality System Improvement, such a EQMS or others as called upon. 

What your background should look like

•    Bachelor’s Degree in Technical Discipline 
•    15-20 yrs of experience in industry – Aerospace, Defense, or component manufacturing experience for regulated industry is preferred.
•    Fluent in the requirements of AS9100 and AS9145
•    Demonstrated ability to lead teams, forge strong internal relationships, and drive transformation globally
•    Experienced in the use of Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, 8D and other advanced statistical methods including DOE, DFMEA< PFMEA< MSA, Control Plans, and Capability Studies.
•    Proven track record of being able to work on multiple programs concurrently while maintaining timely completion of defined project tasks.
•    Possesses strong leadership and communications skills
•    Shows Up with strong presence and influence
•    Ability to prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced work environment
•    Track Record of Successfully managing projects from concept to implementation.

COMPENSATION
•    Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $177,900 – 266,800(subject to change dependent on physical location)
•    Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
•    Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
