Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and visionary Director of R&D Product Dvl Engineering focused on Advanced Technology and Manufacturing Process Engineering to lead our cutting-edge research and development efforts. This key leadership position will report to the VP & CTO of the Digital Data Network Business Unit and will drive innovation, spearhead technological advancements, and foster strategic partnerships to maintain our competitive edge in the industry. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic leader who can balance technical expertise with strategic business acumen to drive our advanced technology initiatives forward, while effectively leading a global team of highly skilled engineers with deep technical expertise.

Key Responsibilities

•    Lead and manage cross-functional technical teams in the development of advanced technologies and manufacturing processes.
•    Develop and execute strategic plans for technology innovation implementation, aligned with cross functional stakeholders and business outcomes.
•    Drive research initiatives in high-speed design, active cooling solutions, advanced materials, and manufacturing processes.
•    Oversee simulation and AI projects to enhance product development and optimization.
•    Establish, implement, & communicate global toolbox to allow rapid prototype and proof of concept.
•    Collaborate directly with key customers to understand their needs and translate them into technological solutions.
•    Identify and pursue external partnerships to accelerate innovation and expand capabilities.
•    Attract, develop, and retain top technical talent to build a world-class team.
•    Present complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
•    Ensure alignment of advanced technology initiatives with overall business objectives.

What your background should look like

•    Advanced engineering degree (Ph.D. preferred) in a relevant field such as Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or Mechanical Engineering.
•    Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience with a PhD or 13 years of experience with a Master’s degree.
•    Minimum of 7 years of progressive leadership and people management experience.
•    Demonstrated experience leading technical teams in advanced technology development.
•    Proven expertise in high-speed design, advanced materials, and manufacturing processes (stamping, plating, molding).
•    Strong background in simulation techniques and artificial intelligence applications.
•    Demonstrated success in establishing and managing external partnerships.
•    Strong leadership skills in setting performance goals, coaching, providing feedback, driving accountability, and fostering high-performing teams through talent development, succession planning, and effective hiring.
•    Experience managing resource allocation and workload balancing to support employee wellbeing and maintain productivity.
•    Clear understanding of how organizational design and people management influence business results, with proven ability to structure organizations that align with strategy, maximize efficiency, and clarify roles and responsibilities.
•    Outstanding communication and presentation skills. A convincing communicator who shares compelling perspectives that drive engagement and excitement both up and down the organization. 
•    Track record of attracting and developing top technical talent.
•    Strong direct customer communication skills.
•    Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable plans.
•    Strategic thinking and long-term vision for technological advancements.

•    Proficiency in relevant software tools and platforms for simulation and AI.

COMPENSATION
•    Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $200,900-301,400 (subject to change dependent on physical location)
•    Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
•    Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
