Job Overview

TE Connectivity's Senior Field Application Enginner Teams manage all aspects of a product, from driving new product development to manufacturing to marketing. They are responsible for overall product strategy, business leadership and capacity plans in order to meet sales and profit targets.

Essential accountability for Top Line Growth of Terminals & Splices, Identification Solutions, and Entrelec Terminal Blocks.  Drive new OEM opportunities to key customers within our core AFGs (Application Focus Growth). Support Industrial, EWS, Channel, and X-BU Sales teams.
 
Senior Field Application Engineer is responsible for market development in a pre-determined regional territory (W.NA) + focus accounts + sales conversion.  This includes all aspects of the technical sales cycle, including collaboration with the customer to solve new design challenges. Must be capable of leveraging complementary products sold in shared and expanding markets
Common Markets include Rail, Aerospace & Defense, Industrial Automation and Robotics, Control Panels, Oil & Gas, and Wire & Cable Harness Mfg.  Must recommend TE’s Electrical products and solutions for new and existing applications to meet customer needs, ensuring an extraordinary customer experience.  This position will play a significant role in Product Management and Engineering, while also being the voice of our customers.

•    Works intimately with customers to identify new applications, requirements, modifications, and enhancements to meet customer specifications.
•    Penetrate customers’ design cycle to be involved in the early stages of new product/platform planning (OEM Sales).
•    Possess a firm understanding of the Rail, Electrical, Aerospace & Defense, Industrial Automation, and Energy markets.
•    Review, prepare, and present design proposals to customers both internally and externally.
•    Represent and advocate for the customer (VOC); thrive on collaborating with customers to solve their problems together.
•    Develop deep customer and industry relationships with technical influencers and decision-makers at key customers and focus market segments.
•    Work closely with TE Product Management and BU Sales on key account penetration and support.
•    Effectively deliver TE’s value proposition, contributing to strategy development for a differentiated and complete technology solution that will enable sustained growth and industry leadership for TE, now and in the future.
•    Develop a strong vision for where the market is going through Voice of Customer feedback, industry events, publications, and other sources. Utilize this knowledge to determine where TE can best align with the intersection of market trends and needs.

•    Work with cross-functional teams in product development and manufacturing for a thorough understanding of customer and market requirements and design requests.
•    Provide technical assistance, customer training, technical advice, demonstrations, and presentations to introduce TE technologies and products that meet customer and market needs. 
•    Collaborate with the product team to oversee product design from market definition through production and release.
•    Interpret engineering drawings and virtual models in support of cost estimation/solutions.
•    Support product & process qualifications.
•    Design for Manufacturing (DFM) review, preparation, and presentation to address customer design, engineering, and manufacturing requirements.

What your background should look like:

Minimum Requirements:
•    BS degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering preferred.
•    7+ years of engineering, technical sales, product management, or related experience required; Identification Solutions and Terminal Block industry experience preferred. 
Other Qualifications:
•    Ability to leverage engineering competency to understand OEM customer requirements directly related to Identification Solutions.
•    Fundamental understanding of design, manufacturing techniques, service, and traceability.  Specifically, Who, What, and Where in the process IDENT falls.
•    Understanding of manufacturing processes to include automated product assembly, laser marking, MID (molded interconnect device) and LDM (laser direct marking), control cabinets, and wire harnessing.
•    Experience in and participation in the full product development cycle.
•    Demonstrated proficiency in Thermal Transfer Printing, Heat Shrink Tubing, Pressure sensitive labels, and Terminal Blocks.
•    Demonstrated ability to provide effective project leadership.
•    Strong interpersonal & negotiating skills.
•    Excellent oral, written and presentation skills demonstrated by the ability to communicate across all levels within and outside of the organization. 
•    Experience presenting technical material and solutions in person to both technical and non-technical audiences.
•    Ability and willingness to travel as required (domestic); Anticipated travel is 50%-70%.
•    Must have the ability and desire to work independently, personal drive, and perseverance
•    Outstanding networking, influencing, and listening skills.

COMPENSATION
•    Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $90,200 - $135,400 (subject to change dependent on physical location)
•    Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
•    Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
