Job Overview
Business Unit (BU)
As a member of the Digital Data Networks (DDN) business in TE Connectivity, you will play a key role in Thermal and CFD Simulations for connectors, heat sink, cable assembly and bus bar assembly products used in Data Centers and AI systems.
Role Objective
To perform Thermal and CFD Simulations and provide suitable design recommendations for design success and validation.
Responsibilities:
- Executes complex Thermal and CFD Simulations & develop new simulation methods.
- Create finite element models and perform Thermal, Electro-Thermal & CFD simulations.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify design weaknesses & provide potential solutions.
- Analyzing simulation results to identify areas for improvement & propose design recommendations.
- Develop and implement complex Thermal and CFD simulation models to optimize design, manufacturing, or processes.
- Perform calculation & analysis on temperature distribution over system. Perform coupled electro-thermal simulation for steady state, transient thermal scenario, conjugate heat transfer etc.
- Proficient in simplifying complex CAD geometries for efficient Thermal and CFD simulation analysis by utilizing software tools like Ansys Spaceclaim and Ansys Discovery
- Ensuring the maintenance and updating of simulation models to achieve optimal accuracy and relevance.
- Experience with DoE (Design of Experiments) and optimization techniques. Simulate different scenarios utilizing DoE methods.
- Validate concept designs using simulation techniques and determine design robustness, critical to function requirements.
- Analyzing complex simulation results to identify areas for improvement and driving design or process changes.
- In-depth knowledge of conduction, convection, radiation and conjugate heat transfer and fluid dynamics, mechanics, including material properties of metal, plastic, glue, fluids (gas, liquid) etc.
- Knowledge of mechanical design. Collaborate with designer, manufacturing, and testing teams to correlate Thermal and CFD results with physical testing.
- Translate actual problems to Thermal and CFD models, interpret analysis results and select best solution which includes non-linear analysis under different physics.
- Collaborate with design & validation teams to enhance the design optimization.
Candidate Desired Profile:
Education and Experience
- M.Tech. with specialization in Thermal Engg. with 8+ years of related experience / Ph.D with specialization in Thermal Engg with 4+ years of related experience. Must have academics from Tier-1 university or Institutions (e.g. IIT or IISc etc.)
- Good knowledge of electro-mechanical products, design processes and methodology.
- Experience in relevant Thermal and CFD simulation and thermal management, including but not limited to, joule heating, heat dissipation, DFMEA, product application etc.
- Working knowledge of thermal testing and basic knowledge of test methods for electrical connectors, cable assembly and bus bars.
- Knowledge of material science (Plastic, Metals, Fluids)
- Correlation of test and simulation data / results.
- Expertise in CAE tools, optimization techniques, and testing methods.

- Creo10.0, ANSYS SpaceClaim / Discovery & Hypermesh
- Knowledge of Python programming language or similar
- Proficiency in use of MATLAB & MS Office tools.
- Proficient using MS office software (Word, Excel, PPT, Outlook, MS Teams, etc.)
- Fluent in English (both verbal and written)
