Job Overview


TE Connectivity’s R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams conceive original ideas for new products, introduce them into practice. They are responsible for product development, and qualification from market definition through production and release; assist in the qualification of suppliers for new products to ensure suppliers deliver quality parts, materials, and services for new or improved manufacturing processes; conduct feasibility studies, testing on new and modified designs; direct and support detailed design, testing, prototype fabrication and manufacturing ramp. The R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams provide all required product documentation including, but not limited to, Solid Model, 2D/3D production drawings, product specifications, and testing requirements. They create and modify detailed drawings and drafting or conceptual models from layouts, rough sketches or notes and contribute to design modifications to facilitate manufacturing operation or quality of product. Typical fields of expertise include: materials, mechanics and systems, electrical, optics, chemistry, software, automation systems, packaging, testing and measurement, and manufacturing of electrical, mechanical and electronic components, products, and their integration into systems.


The Manufacturing Design engineer will be responsible for managing various projects of new injection tool, stamping tool and assembly fixture industrialization.  They will be accountable for leading the projects to a successful conclusion and ensuring that each meet the targets set in terms of Design Requirements, Tool Performance, Transfer to operation, Capex cost and Timeline. The role will provide leadership overall project link to New Product Development. 


Responsibilities and tasks:


  • Lead & Manage relationships with all tool suppliers to ensure that they will respect TE tools requirements and contractual obligations to TE are met. 
  • Be part of product design to ensure that new components and product will be manufacturable.
  • Be accountable and responsible for approved tools for:
  • Injection, tools for internal production or production subcontracted outside TE
  • Stamping tool for production subcontracted outside TE
  • Assembly fixture for internal production or production subcontracted outside TE
  • Provide leadership over the project in accordance with TE policies: 
  • Define tooling requirement
  • Be part of supplier selection
  • Plan and follow supplier schedule.
  • Execute the tool development plan to meet milestones, timelines, KPI. Identify and proactively overcome barriers and roadblocks.
  • Monitor and Control.  Track, review, and regulate the progress and performance. Proactively prevent delays to the schedule or budget overruns. 
  • Provide to Project Manager relevant information to prepare to pass project Gate / Interim Gate Reviews.
  • Communicate regularly with the project team and all Stakeholders. 
  • Contribute to Identifying and implementing improvements on the process.

Qualifications and Experience Required:


  • University Degree: Engineering preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in the development on Injection Tooling, Stamping tools and assembly fixtures.
  • Demonstrate experience on Creo or similar tool
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Culturally sensitive.
  • Able to work within a cross-functional team to maintain a schedule 
  • Capable to run multiple projects at the same time.
