Job Overview

TE Connectivity's Environmental Health & Safety Teams ensure and monitor safety in the workplace. This includes the application and communication of health, safety and hazardous material standards, procedures and practices consistent with TE, environmental and government regulations.

    Responsibilities

 

  • Improves EHS work performance by implementing the Laird/TE EHS management system, Laird/TE EHS policy and procedures; initiating  EHS campaigns, communications, and recognitions; providing training for managers and employees at the assigned site(s). 
  • Deploys EHS policy and management procedures by conducting inspections and assessments, identifying and implementing improvement actions, reporting statistics and regular communicating with all employees.  
  • Develops procedures and implements plans to reduce the risk of injury or damage. Able to anticipate, recognize, and evaluate hazardous conditions, as well as develop control methods.
  • Identifies and measures potential hazards to people or property, such as the risk of fires or the dangers involved in the handling of toxic chemicals. 
  • Investigates all violations and incidents/accidents; recommends preventive programs at the site level.
  • Leads the certification process of ISO14001 and ISO45001.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; interpreting standards; enforcing adherence to regulations; directing local site management on needed actions.
  • Promotes a safe environment by coordinating and cooperating with regulatory agencies and safety groups.
  • Drives the use and sharing of safety information at the local and regional site levels.
  • Completes operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees, following up on work results. Maintains safety staff job results by coaching, counseling  employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
  • Participates and contributes to the EHS professional network through regular meetings, reviews, training and other events. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and external seminars.
  • Actively participates in all aspects of RoHS and other restricted substance initiatives in support of customer and regulatory requirements for all Laird/TE products.
  • Coordinate the administration of workers compensation program, including working with the insurance carrier to reduce employee injuries, as directed.
  • Maintains all EHS management related documents to meet the audit requirements from customer, government authorities and Corporate EHS team.


Requirements

 

  • Knowledgeable for safety programs and has rich implementation experience, including but not limited to machine guarding, LOTO, Ergo, confined space, hand safety, PIT management, chemical management, and etc. 
  • Experienced on wastes management, scheduled wastes management license is required. 
  • Certified Safety && Health officer.
  • Personal computer skills such as MICROSOFT OFFICE and relational database.
  • Team player; Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Excellent communication and influence skills.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups.
  • Ability to fully define project scopes, deliverables and team requirements as well as execute project plans with minimal supervision.
  • B.A./B.S in Safety, Mechanical, Chemical, Environmental, Occupational Health or relevant profession;
  • 10 or more years of related EH&S experience
