Job Overview
As the Director of Engineering for a sub-vertical at TE Connectivity, you will lead a global, multi-site engineering organization that underpins our position as a world leader in electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and filter solutions. Based in or within commuting distance of Luterbach, Switzerland, you will be closely connected to our Center of Excellence, which includes a state-of-the-art laboratory and a team of approximately 40 engineers, while also overseeing additional teams in North America and Asia.
Reporting into the Industrial BU leadership, you will be accountable for setting the technical vision, driving breakthrough innovation, and shaping the future engineering footprint as the business scales significantly through both organic growth and acquisitions. This role demands a seasoned engineering leader with a strong background in electrical, electronics, power electronics capable of managing a multicultural, multinational team and influencing senior stakeholders across the organization. You will play a pivotal role in guiding advanced product and technology development, supporting M&A due diligence and integration, and building an optimized, future-ready global engineering organization.
This position offers direct visibility to TE’s CTO community and a clear succession pathway toward higher-level technology leadership roles within a dynamic, growth-focused, and innovative environment.
What we're looking for
- Extensive experience leading global, multi-site engineering organizations within electrical, electronics, power electronics, or closely related domains.
- Proven ability to lead, influence, and develop high-performing, cross-functional teams across multiple regions and cultures, demonstrating strong strategic leadership, stakeholder management, and collaboration skills in a matrixed environment.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of clearly articulating sophisticated technical topics, innovation roadmaps, and strategic priorities to senior executives, customers, and internal stakeholders.
- Experience translating technology and business strategies into executable roadmaps and aligning engineering resources to growth, M&A, and integration initiatives.
- Deep understanding of advanced engineering practices and processes, with a track record of driving innovation, building scalable engineering footprints, and optimizing organizational structures to support significant, sustained business growth.
- Solid business acumen and succession potential for future CTO-level roles, with demonstrated capability to operate at C-suite interface level
What you'll need
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Power Electronics or a closely related technical discipline.
- Significant leadership experience in engineering (typically 10+ years), including managing multi-site, multinational engineering teams and owning a global technology or product portfolio.
- Strong technical foundation in electrical / electronic design, ideally including power electronics, circuit protection, or related domains; EMC / filters experience is a plus but not required.
- Proven track record in driving complex innovation programs from concept through launch, including first-to-market technologies and advanced product development.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead, influence and inspire diverse, senior and cross-functional stakeholders in a global matrix environment.
- Strong English language skills essential for global and stakeholder collaboration. German would be an asset as it allow to effectively communicate with the primarily German-speaking team in Luterbach.
- Willingness and ability to be physically present in Luterbach, Switzerland or ability to commute multiple days per week, or open for relocation. International travel as needed to key engineering and customer locations is expected.
