Responsibilities & Qualifications

The BCS sub-vertical within the Industrial Business Unit of TE Connectivity has an opportunity for a Sr. Manufacturing and Process Development Engineer. This is a key position to support P&S Heavy Duty connector portfolio growth by success NPI launch with Lead on time , Lead on quality and Lead on cost.

This position will be responsible for the development for overall manufacture and process solution from product concept stage till industrialize stage with the support from other team members .The engineer will also work with the business unit to support initiatives for platform derivatives for new product introduction, product insourcing efforts, and cost out efforts.

Key responsibilities for this position include: 

• Responsible for all aspects of molds aligned to new product introduction: concepting, quoting, requisitioning, design for manufacturability, mold design reviews, build, conditioning, validation, first article approval, and process capability
• Main contact window launch in Xiamen Plant for AIDC product)
• Ensure documentation meets all TE requirements
• Evaluate and recommend assembly processes and mold designs to ensure that manufacturing capabilities meet capacity and cost objectives
• Identify new molding technologies to reduce costs, improved efficiencies, and decrease ppm defects that will differentiate us from competition.
• Generate capacity analysis for both current and future platform expansions
• Utilize flexible prototyping techniques to support product validation testing and minimize subsequent conditioning time
• Insure all designs for BCS processes are available and at current revision regardless of internal or external production upon product launches
• Provide necessary engineering support for molding/die casting to other development functions to create solutions for cross-functional projects
• Initiate and review design and process constructions and/or major modifications
• Work with Global Centers of Excellence and Advanced Manufacturing Technology groups to ensure deployment across the Business Units

Qualifications

Required

• Responsible for all aspects of mold tooling and process development: molded component concepting, quoting, purchasing, design for manufacturability, design reviews, build, conditioning, first article approval, capability, and transfer to production
• Ability to drive molding development velocity in a team setting to achieve aggressive product launch timing goals while validating capable processes and molds
• Development of design and tooling supply base for build and internal transfer as well as external production in the Asia Pacific region
• Ensure product, tooling, and process documentation meets all project requirements
• Evaluate and recommend changes to existing molding processes and mold designs to ensure that manufacturing capabilities meet capacity and cost objectives
• Identify new technologies in molding to reduce costs, and improved efficiencies or quality levels that would differentiate us from our competition
• Generate capacity analysis for both current and future platform expansions
• Utilize various prototyping efforts to support product validation testing and minimize subsequent production conditioning time
• Insure all capital asset tracking systems are updated and assets are marked properly
• Insure all mold designs are available and at current revision regardless of internal or external production upon product launch and saved to PDM Link per procedure

What your background should look like

Generally requires Bachelors degree in appropriate field with a minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible professional level experience; Masters degree or higher or local equivalent may be preferred at this level
