Rotational Product Engineer

Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s Rotational program is designed for graduating seniors and early career professionals, this 2-year program accelerates participant’s development by combining intensive on-the-job training, rotations across business units, locations and roles, and exposure to senior leadership.
The role of the R&D/Product Development Engineer is to work with product management and project management to define product performance requirements and then conceptualize and design a product design solution to deliver value to the target markets and customer base.  The rotational program provides the foundation for this role through rotational assignments, a cross-functional group project, three Rotation Week events and functional training.  Each engineer within the rotation program reports to an Engineering Manager who manages the engineer, coordinates and oversees all of their activities.  In addition, within each rotational assignment, the rotational engineer is paired with a senior engineer who provides instruction, provides daily oversight of the engineer and checks their work.  

Job Responsibilities

  • Developing product design concepts using 3D modeling skills in Pro-Engineer Creo software
  • Working with manufacturing development engineers to understand the manufacturing processes involved in creating our products and insuring product designs are manufacturable with existing internal or external manufacturing resources and technologies
  • Conducting tolerance analysis on connector assemblies and stamped and molded components to determine dimensional fits 
  • Coordinating prototype builds and testing of components and assemblies to reduce risk of the design before production grade product is tooled and manufactured
  • Writing qualification test plans, preparing and submitting test samples to reliability test labs
  • Generating product and application specifications under guidance of senior engineers 
  • Initiating and implementing programs to continuously improve quality, and cost, while meeting customer requirements
  • Supporting and implementing product extensions to existing platform products to meet specific customer requirements

What your background should look like:

  • Must be graduating (or recently graduated) between June 2020 and June 2021 from a Bachelor’s Degree Program in Mechanical Engineering or  Electrical Engineering        Minimum GPA requirement of 3.0
  • Previous internship and/or work experience preferred
  • Geographically mobile
  • Leadership experience preferred
