TE Connectivity in Winston-Salem, NC is looking for a Sr. R&D Product Development Engineer to develop platform connectors and elements to enable solutions for data connectivity applications.  Includes tasks such as requirements definition, concept creation, 3D modelling, drawing creation, engineering analysis, DFMEA, prototyping, validation, and writing specifications. Design and develop different Data Connectivity connectors according to TC9 standard. Develop new connectors while working in a global team environment with Manufacturing, Quality, Product Management, Project Management, Sales, and R&D Product development of Data Connectivity connector. Interact with customers to define product requirements while building strong relationships. Develop an understanding of data connectivity applications and market trends within our industry, including the assessment of competitive and emerging technologies. Create concepts to satisfy customer needs while meeting internal process and cost requirements. Design intricate plastic, diecast, and stamped metal components using PTC Creo. Use simulation tools, best practices, and design reuse to ensure product solutions are mechanically and electrically robust. Perform tolerance and manufacturability reviews to ensure product performance and manufacturing feasibility. Work with the team to produce prototypes and design verification samples. Develop product verification plans and work with test lab resources to complete testing. Identify key characteristics and manage design risks through participation in DFMEA and Control Plan development. Work with the team to resolve any issues during production launch.

 

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (or foreign equivalent), plus 5 years of experience in the job offered, or in a related occupation.         

 

Special Requirements: Requires 5 years of experience with the following:

  1. Connector design/development using PTC Creo.
  2. Model/design revision control in PTC Creo.
  3. Part number creation in CPR.
  4. Understanding and discussing customer requirements for connector design in ICT environments.
  5. Use of simulation tools to analyze mechanical connector functions.
  6. Developing connector validation test plans based on Customer specifications.
  7. Selecting optimum materials based on component requirements and function.
