Operations Finance Manager (Plants)

Job Overview

This position is part of the Industrial & Commercial Transportation (ICT) Finance organization supporting the ICT and Global Application Tooling Division (GATD) business units. The candidate will be the Global Operations Finance business partner with a team of Plant Controllers in each of the manufacturing sites. The candidate will work cross-functionally with Operations, Supply Chain, Quality and Procurement to drive operational productivity and accelerate business improvement opportunities across the business ~ short-term and long-term.  Other critical activities will include coordinating financial analysis, developing business decision support, financial/strategic modeling, forecasting and reporting.

  • This role's location is preferred in Harrisburg, PA but also open to Winston-Salem, NC.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, establish targets and manage financial performance for all core financial metrics in ICT/GATD ~ Focus on gross margin expansion;  filling conversion savings pipelines, managing manufacturing variances, and advising the leadership team on risks and opportunities.
  • Identify cost drivers, translate financial insights of Operations into actionable recommendations and drive execution of agreed upon actions.
  • Key driver of budget and forecast preparation and all relevant reviews with the Operations function.  Provide insight and lead reviews with the plant finance & leadership teams.
  • Lead the Operations weekly/monthly reporting and review cycle and support all closing and reporting activities ~ weekly/monthly flash, operations deep-dives and review packages, KPI reporting/reviews and TEBIT reporting.
  • Support the execution of the Footprint optimization and M&A activity in ICT/GATD.
Responsibilities Con't:
  • Develop and improve financial processes/reporting and better leverage existing tools.
  • Key contributor and driver toward operational performance and long-term strategy development.
  • Identify cost drivers and work with the Operations teams on improvement actions.
  • Understand the businesses and coach operations associates relative to required actions.
  • Drive the financial aspects of special projects including migration and investment activities
  • Support training and development of finance talent. Help build a pipeline of future finance leaders through talent development and best-in-class performance.
  • Analyze gross margin with a strong focus around recovery, conversion spend and gross margin productivity.
  • Continued improvement of processes to control spend & manage the ICT & GATD non-plant operational manufacturing variance
  • Serve as a finance business partner to ICT/GATD operations leaders and plant teams.

  • Minimum of Bachelors Degree in Finance or Accounting with 7+ years of experience as a Plant Controller or in a manufacturing environment in a publicly traded company.  MBA preferred.
  • Demonstrated communication skills, both verbally and written, for a senior executive audience.  Able to tactfully highlight and defend positions with senior management.
  • Ability to develop talent, and effectively coach and motivate financial analysts and others
  • Advanced financial modeling skills ability to create pro forma or forecasted Income Statements.
  • Understanding of macroeconomics factors and they impact financial performance.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite; Financial Consolidations / ERP system knowledge a plus.
