Senior Commodity Manager / Buyer

Job Overview

TE Connectivity is now hiring a Senior Commodity Manager for our Medical Business Unit manufacturing operations across 5 sites. It is currently a remote role but it will transition into a flexible work mode later this year with a requirement to be present on-site as needed. This role can be located in Wilsonville, OR, Plymouth, MN or Medway, MA. 

 

As a Senior Commodity Manager, your responsibilities will include:

  • Manage a group of assigned commodities (raw materials such as plastics and resin). Define and implement a business wide strategy for these commodities to realize established goals and objectives
  • Responsible for achieving annual productivity goal set by the medical business unit. Execute negotiations and drive implementation of selected projects or strategies in co-operation with assigned site resources
  • Lead supplier negotiations, selection and development of contracts and supply agreements
  • Liaise and co-operate with procurement teams in other TE Connectivity business units and corporate procurement 
  • Lead Supplier Relationship Management activities, including periodic strategic reviews, supplier development activities, and inter-business improvement projects.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve supplier lead times, minimize total inventory and maximize cash flow
  • Manage monthly metrics including cost, schedule attainment and performance factors of suppliers
  • Work with colleagues to identify and execute continuous improvement and cost savings projects across the supply chain including developing new sources of supply.
  • Obtains quotations from approved suppliers list (ASL); perform detailed bid analysis to determine best supplier; awards contracts in the best interest of TE Medical. 
  • Identifies risks and opportunities within assigned commodities for new suppliers or new products. Recommends alternative strategies and implements approved approaches. 
  • Expedites delivery of materials and services as required to meet customer demands; resolves daily issues that arise with internal customers and external suppliers; responds to internal customer inquiries.  
  • Assures compliance with TE policies and procedures such as Competitive Bid Policy, Approval of Suppliers, Environmental Compliance etc.
     

Strategic Sourcing Analyst; Senior Buyer; Purchasing Manager; Procurement Analyst.

What your background should look like:

  • Degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering or related area. 
  • At least 5 years’ experience in procurement/strategic sourcing in a manufacturing environment
  • Excellent negotiation, communication and supplier management skills 
  • Deep knowledge of supply chain, contract analysis and negotiation, sourcing strategy execution and project management. 
  • Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills including presentation skills before an executives or international audience. 
  • Working knowledge of Quality Systems within a regulated manufacturing environment e.g. ISO13485, FDA 
  • Requires knowledge of raw materials, production processes and quality control. 
  • Ability to work independently on multiple assignments 
  • Experience with MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS PowerPoint, ERP systems such as SAP, Epicor
