Job Overview

TE’s Medical business unit, part of the Industrial Solutions segment, offers medical device OEMs, a complete product offering, and capability portfolio for minimally invasive, imaging, surgical, diagnostic, and therapeutic devices. You will have an exciting opportunity to be the lead technical resource for global manufacturing operations of FEP and other heat shrink tubing processing.  You will be based in the Portland, Oregon area, but your responsibilities will span to 13 other sites around the world.  The organization will look to you to lead three sites in manufacturing technology of various heat shrink tubing, and support 8 others in the use of that tubing in the manufacturing of catheters.  You will begin your career at TE engaging sites virtually, but travel frequently once that can be done safely. The methods and tools you develop in collaboration with other TE technical leaders will be leveraged globally to establish world class process capability.   Your contributions will be key to establishing these sites as world class in the field.

Responsibilities


•    Lead engineers, through example and mentorship, in solving high priority challenging problems leveraging your advanced problem solving, creativity and leadership skills.
•    Collaborate with global teams in the establishment of statistical methods for thermoplastic processing and deployment across the network.
•    Partner with development teams in the achievement of innovation objectives and execution of successful product launches 
•    Serve as global technical expert for process technologies spanning product lines.    
•    Adhere to quality and compliance standards to ensure safe and effective use of the devices TE manufactures.  Identify best practices and share globally.
 

What your background should look like:


•    You bring a strong foundational knowledge in thermoplastic processing and the broad array of materials that are used in the industry.
•    You have a BS in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Processing Engineering, Materials Science or a related engineering degree.  Masters or PhD is a plus.
•    You have a Minimum of 10 years’ experience in an advanced manufacturing company with progressive levels of responsibility.
•    You have a passion for six sigma and statistical methodology in manufacturing process development and control.
•    You thrive on coming up with new ideas and leading others to do the same.
•    You can adapt to work priorities in response to a rapidly changing environment.
•    Any medical device manufacturing experience you have would be valued, but it is not required.

 

Travel: 25% to 50% - when travel is resumed
