Job Overview

As a System Architect Engineer, you will be responsible for developing High Speed Rotary Sensor using either resolver or inductive technologies including translating customer technical needs into sensor product specification. This will require to develop a deep understanding of how the sensor is integrated into the customer application and to master the end to end signal processing chain.

The System Architect Engineer will interact with customers to support developing business opportunities along with product management team. During the opportunity phase, the system architect will define the problem customer wants to resolve to select the best technical solution to solve that problem. She/He can challenge with facts and figures any given technical solution to maximize value of the opportunity.

The System Architect Engineer will develop the technical product specification, including performance and validation tests, and will lead the technical development of the product where she/he will contribute in her/his field of expertise (mechatronics, electrical design). She/He contributes to different engineering activities during the opportunity phase such as building and evaluating prototypes, running simulations and characterizing IC.

The System Architect Engineer will leverage a structured development approach such as Design For Six Sigma and Robust Design principles … all to ensure the sensor product meets technical, performance & product cost requirements, are completed on time and within the project budget.

The ideal candidate would be an experienced hands-on electronic or mechatronics design engineer of sensor products and specifically High Speed Rotary sensor products with a Design For Six Sigma certification and Functional Safety certification.

A Day in the Life

  • Develop a strong technical customer intimacy to translate customer application needs into technical product specification.
  • Manage feasibility study by identifying the best technology that meet customer specification.
  • Conduct simulation, build and test prototype to confirm with data that the selected technology fits expected performance and customer functional requirements.
  • Build a knowledge database on customer application, including mechanical integration as well as the end to end signal processing chain.
  • Lead the technical development of the sensor product by working closely with the mechanical design engineer.
  • When needed, design the electronic board (schematics, worst case, thermal calculations, ICT test specification, DFMEA, integration…), drive or create PCB layout.
  • Keep track of PCB manufacturing (sub-contractors, supplier) and conduct reviews when needed.
  • Manage and execute electronic validations (functional, electrical, EMC, thermal,…)
  • Conduct analysis of faulty parts to find the failure’s root cause and take corrective actions.
  • Report progress on meeting customer requirements, performance, cost and deliverable dates on assigned projects.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate technical risk associated to product development
  • Perform benchmark of competitor product and conduct technology watch for High Speed Sensing.
  • Conduct market analysis of IC and conduct IC characterization to identify best in class solutions.

What your background should look like:

  • Master’s degree in a technical discipline
  • 4-7+ years of development of sensor products thru the full lifecycle developments (initial research & development though series launch) for automotive industry.
  • Experience in all aspects of automotive electronic design, development and deployment of automotive products, Electronic Specification, Design, Functional Verification, IC Verification
  • Experience with customer interactions and in collecting voice of customers for sensor products, specifically for High-Speed Sensor
  • Experience with automotive customer interactions in developing sensor products
  • Experience in running simulations for inductive sensors.
  • A high curiosity in understanding how systems/product works along with a reverse engineering mindset
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with management, stakeholders, cross-functional teams
  • Exceptional analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills and ability to make decisions when presented with a series of challenges, conflicts and constraints
  • Exceptional fluency in English


  • PhD in technical discipline (Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics)
  • DFSS, or Six Sigma Black Belt Certified
  • Standards Knowledge - IATF 16949, EN 9100, ISO 9001, AEC-Q100
  • Automotive Communication interfaces (LIN/CAN/SENT/PWM/Analog)
  • Automotive EMC Standards
  • Solid knowledge on onboard analog and digital electronics design.
  • Solid knowledge in sensors electronics, measurement & signal processing.
  • Functional Safety (FuSa) Knowledge and Expertise
  • Experience in High Speed Rotary application for automotive
  • Ability to develop your own engineering tools (like Arduino programming or perl/php scripting)
