Job Overview

TE Connectivity's Manufacturing and Process Development Engineering Teams significantly impact LEANPD driven new product development projects, driving for excellence in existing manufacturing technologies and methods and striving to implement new manufacturing technologies to provide improved process and tolerance control. They act as the binding element between product development and manufacturing engineering, ensuring the effectiveness and efficiency of this critical interface. They support Product Development in the optimization of designs and piece parts for manufacturability by realizing sample tooling/products/prototypes. They also design, develop, and qualify tooling and processes to meet TE quality and production standards, document all processes and tooling in applicable TE systems, support supply chain to verify supplier compliance and capability, initiate and implement programs to continuously improve quality, cost and cycle time and adhere to all appropriate specifications, regulatory requirements and customer requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the conceptualization, design, and implementation of assembly manufacturing processes for both low-volume/high-mix and high-volume/low-mix automotive interconnect products and assemblies, ensuring seamless integration into a high-value, fast-paced manufacturing environment with diverse levels of complexity.
  • Act as the Lead Manufacturing Engineer on advanced manufacturing process development projects, driving process optimization and process waste reduction using lean methodologies.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product development, advanced quality, and operations teams to design and optimize assembly processes, ensuring manufacturability, quality, capex minimization, and compliance with safety and ergonomic standards.
  • Interface with global teams to transfer best practices, lessons learned, and engineer innovative solutions for new process implementations, ensuring alignment with TE standards and customer requirements.
  • Ensure NPI assembly process milestones are met. Develop assembly process quotes, process flows, PFMEA’s, and machine specifications. Submit equipment purchase requests, manage/track build progress and timeline. Orchestrate FAT/SAT and industrialization.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that manufacturing facilities are fully equipped, and personnel are trained to meet specific process performance targets, including throughput rates, labor, and quality metrics for the business case of new product launch.
  • Lead in training and guiding factory personnel in the deployment of new manufacturing processes and technologies for product launches, ensuring successful knowledge transfer and process stability.
  • Engage in complex, intellectual tasks requiring frequent application of engineering standards, principles, and technical theories to solve process challenges and improve operational performance.
  • Utilize advanced CAD tools (Creo preferred) for process design, and development of detailed layouts and tooling solutions.
  • Travel up to 20% domestically/internationally to support manufacturing initiatives, troubleshooting, and process optimization.

What your background should look like:

  • A minimum BS in a technical engineering discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or a related field) is required.
  • At least 10 years of combined experience in manufacturing engineering, machine/automation design, and process development, with a demonstrated ability to design, develop, and improve systems and processes.
  • Preferred experience in both machine design and automation systems, as well as project management experience in leading or supporting complex process launches with cross-functional and multicultural teams.
  • Understanding and practical application of lean manufacturing principles, with a focus on continuous improvement and process efficiency.
  • Proficiency with standard software tools such as Microsoft Office Suite, SAP, MS Project, or similar project management, and enterprise system tools.
  • Self-motivated and highly disciplined, with a proven track record of launching/leading multiple new assembly process projects and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to organize and follow detailed project plans, manage risks, and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical teams.
  • Experience in automotive manufacturing is an advantage, but not mandatory.
