Product/Test Technician III

Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s Product Engineering Teams optimize existing products from information or input provided by marketing, customers, Operation Teams, Development Engineers or other employees. They maintain existing products, processes, and specifications including modifications for new applications consistent with manufacturing techniques and economies. They also initiate and implement programs to continuously improve quality, and cost, while meeting customer requirements and may support and implement product extensions to existing platform products to meet specific customer requirements. They are the key experts in the products they are responsible for at TE.

Demonstrate a working knowledge and understanding of data acquisition systems and test equipment associated with the laboratory. Must have excellent technical writing and communication skills, along with interpersonal skills that are required to interface with external and internal customers. Review supplied test request and obtain all necessary resources, (test/product specifications/TE or Customer specifications/Equipment) to perform testing in a timely manner. Comment and discuss test results with lab associates/test requestor for product improvement and /or modification. Responsible for documenting test results/procedures within a technical report utilizing Excel and Word. Support laboratory accreditation and lab safety efforts. Experience in electrical, environmental, and mechanical testing, a plus.

A Day in the Life

  • Set-up, prepare, and conduct most electrical, environmental, and mechanical laboratory tests.
  • Perform sample preparation which includes but not limited to measuring/stripping and crimping wire leads, attaching voltage/current sense leads with the use of solder, mounting thermal couples, assembling connector components, identifying/numbering test samples, and sealing test preparation.
  • Ability to use basic hand tools (wrenches, wire cutters, pliers, torque meter, etc.).
  • Capable of shifting priorities to meet customer demands.
  • Communicate status of testing to lab personnel and engineering.
  • May perform more advanced functions as part of training and development.
  • Basic equipment maintenance and housekeeping skills.
  • Work with medium voltage and high current DC equipment.
  • Above all, responsible for the accuracy and completion of all projects on time.                       

What your background should look like:

Education:

  • A.A.S. Degree Electronic Technology or Equivalent is strongly preferred.

 

Special Qualifications, Knowledge & Skills:

  • Understanding of series / parallel circuits and power calculations.
  • Understanding of schematics and DC circuitry.
  • Solid work ethic, takes the initiative to perform without much supervision.
  • Excellent written and verbal technical communication skills.
  • PC literate.
  • Mechanically inclined.
  • Knowledge of ISO/IEC Guide 17025 a plus.
  • Attention to detail and good cognitive skills when working under pressure.
