Manager Assembly Centre of Excellence Automotive (m/f/d)

Job Overview

The role incumbent is responsible for all Assembly CoE related topics within Automotive.

 

The main area of activity is:

  • to develop future concepts, processes & standard platforms (fully flexible, scalable, digital and using minimized capex) for new and existing products
  • to leverage and innovate digital- and AI-technologies
  • to fill productivity pipeline and establish new capabilities need for future products
  • to ensure process innovation and usage at NPI

 

Second priority of the role is to drive CoE – project deployment and best practise sharing.

 

This position will have the responsibility for establishing assembly process platforms and leading assembly innovation projects at various TE Automotive manufacturing sites worldwide.  This individual will work across geographic boundaries and have a global impact on the business with peers in similar roles in other regions.  It is critical the individual has the ability to bring together diverse regional requirements and work across organizational

Responsibilities

Develop Automotive assembly processes with the next generation techniques and methods to be a source of competitive advantage and to be capable of delivering the long term (5+ years) performance steps needed by the business.
Be a “Go-to-person” for all questions related to innovative and digital assembly concepts and issues to be solved

 

  • Innovation:
    • Create ideas and innovation for new concepts which are fully flexible, scalable, digital and requires minimized capex and leadtime
    • Launch & facilitate the needed platform development projects accordingly
    • Identify, prioritize, support lead and sponsor assembly CoE & innovation projects in collaboration with the ME-, PE-, CoE’s, AMT- and digital organisation
    • Ongoing Benchmarking of capabilities together with ME’s and Purchasing

 

  • Standardization & Roadmaps:
    • Support standardization of machinery and peripheral equipment and manufacturing processes – develop and establish lower cost brands for standard equipment
    • Closely work with and develop internal / external equipment designers, suppliers and integrators on a global basis in collaboration with purchasing to ensure global build / sourcing strategy
    • Develop assembly & automation roadmaps and standards for assembly processes using the latest technology to enable the most cost effective and efficient manufacturing operations according the product roadmap needs

 

  • Leadership and talent development:
    • Identify actual and future skill gaps and support implementation
    • Identify high potentials and support developments or mentorship programs
    • Implements as a key leader global assembly competency in the ME-organisations and manufacturing sites for existing and new processes according the product roadmaps

 

  • Deployment:
    • Drive TE-Best Initiative with RTD-Deployment
    • Support initiatives for plant productivity increase, material saving and cost reduction

What your background should look like:

  • Master degree (Mechanical Engineering)
  • 8+years of experience in various Assembly Manufacturing Engineering or Automation Development assignments. Automotive industry preferred.
  • 5+years in project management
  • Strong background in assembly / automation related technical concepts and robotics, machines and control systems
  • Experience in Digital and AI
  • Innovative and high level of creativity
  • Knowledge of the latest technologies and innovations
  • Base knowledge of Operational Excellence, Digital and Lean tools (Six Sigma degree is preferable)
  • Strong project management skills are essential
  • Fluent in English both written and spoken
  • High interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to influence across the organization and work with global peers
  • Willingness to travel frequently and globally. Openess to support a global manufacturing organization with significant on-site presence in China, Mexico and other high growth countries
