PROCUREMENT ANALYST/STRATEGIC SOURCING - REMOTE (MÉXICO)
Job Overview
The Strategic Sourcing Specialist II is a mid-level procurement professional responsible for executing tactical procurement activities while contributing to strategic sourcing initiatives, with an emphasis on project management to deliver efficient supplier selection and cost-effective outcomes. This role balances approximately 60% tactical responsibilities—such as processing RFQs, managing price changes, and handling day-to-day supplier interactions—with 40% strategic efforts, including spend analysis and category strategy support. The specialist focuses on managing end-to-end sourcing projects, ensuring compliance, risk mitigation, and value realization in a dynamic supply chain environment. A background in mechanical components and the ability to read technical drawings is a plus.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute routine procurement processes, including issuing RFQs/RFPs, evaluating supplier quotes, and managing price change requests.
- Manage day to day supplier communications on a portfolio of key suppliers, and resolve delivery or quality escalations.
- Conduct basic supplier qualification and onboarding, including documentation review and initial performance monitoring to support compliant and reliable sourcing.
- Maintain procurement records in ERP systems (SAP), update material masters, and process invoice reconciliations for accurate spend tracking.
- Support transactional buying for direct materials, focusing on compliance with purchasing policies and internal controls.
- Contribute to category strategies by performing spend analysis, market research, and benchmarking to identify cost-saving opportunities and supplier consolidation potential.
- Lead supplier negotiations for pricing, terms, and contracts under guidance, aiming to achieve targeted savings through competitive bidding and volume commitments.
- Develop and manage sourcing models that account for total cost of ownership (TCO), including hidden factors like logistics and warranty risks.
- Participate in risk assessments and contingency planning for key suppliers, recommending dual sourcing or alternative options to enhance supply chain resilience.
Job Requirements
Intermediate Excel Proficiency: Required for data analysis, spend forecasting, pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and creating project trackers; ability to build simple macros or dashboards is advantageous.
Technical Acumen: Familiarity with reading mechanical drawings and blueprints to assess supplier proposals for components like fasteners, housings, or assemblies (preferred, not required).
Analytical and Decision-Making Skills: Ability to organize data, apply critical thinking to supplier evaluations, and identify value opportunities through basic TCO modeling.
Negotiation and Relationship Management: Solid skills in supplier interactions, contract drafting, and issue resolution to foster partnerships and secure favorable terms.
Project Management Expertise: Strong organizational abilities to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and deliver results in a fast-paced setting.
Core Competencies: Detail-oriented, adaptable, team player with a focus on compliance, ethics, and continuous improvement. Willingness to travel occasionally (10-15%) for supplier site visits.
