Job Overview
The Digital Data Networks Business Unit at TE Connectivity is seeking a Technical Product Manager to lead the strategic direction and development of our Backplane and Board-to-Board Product. This high-impact role focuses on defining and executing a market-driven product roadmap, building close customer partnerships, and leveraging market and technology trends to drive innovation and growth. Success in this role requires strong system architecture knowledge and technical insight, strategic planning, and cross-functional leadership to deliver differentiated solutions that meet evolving Backplane connectivity demands across key applications.
The preferred candidate will be based in San Jose (Bay Area), CA.
An Engineering Background is required for the position.
Key Responsibilities
Product Strategy & Roadmap Development
• Define and drive the product strategy and roadmap for the Backplane portfolio, ensuring alignment with market needs and business objectives
• Conduct comprehensive market research and customer discovery to identify future product requirements and technology trends
• Translate market and customer insights into a prioritized, actionable roadmap that drives competitive advantage
• Develop clear, segment-specific value propositions that differentiate TE’s Backplane products in the marketplace
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including Sales, System Architecture, FAE, and Engineering—to ensure strategic alignment and execution
Customer & Market Engagement
• Develop strong relationships with key customers and industry stakeholders to understand pain points, gather feedback, and validate product direction
• Represent the voice of the customer internally and ensure their needs are central to product decisions
• Support customer meetings, proposal development, and technical discussions to secure design-ins and new business opportunities
• Stay ahead of market trends, competitor moves, and regulatory changes to ensure TE’s Backplane portfolio remains industry-leading
Execution – Product Development & Launch
• Define technical requirements in a Product Requirement Document (PRD) that meets our customers' needs.
• Work closely with R&D to ensure timely development of cost-optimized, high-performance solutions aligned with roadmap objectives
• Ensure seamless collaboration between product, engineering, operations, and marketing teams during early development
• Continuously assess portfolio health and maintain a strong pipeline of future offerings
What your background should look like:
Qualifications
• 8+ years of experience in Product Management, System Architecture, Business Development, or a related function, preferably in high-speed interconnects or industrial technology
• Strong understanding of Backplane products, systems, and applications (e.g., AI rack scale-up or related areas)
• Proven experience defining product roadmaps and strategies based on customer and market insight
• Technical background required; Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field; Master's preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and customer engagement skills, with experience presenting to strategic customers
• Excellent analytical, planning, and communication abilities
• Capable of influencing and driving alignment across a global, matrixed organization
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Willingness to travel internationally as needed
Competencies
COMPENSATION
• Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $181,200 to $226,400 (subject to change depending on physical location)
• Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges based on the selected candidate's experience/qualifications, as well as internal and external equity.
• Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
