Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s Product Engineering Teams optimize existing products from information or input provided by marketing, customers, Operation Teams, Development Engineers or other employees. They maintain existing products, processes, and specifications including modifications for new applications consistent with manufacturing techniques and economies. They also initiate and implement programs to continuously improve quality, and cost, while meeting customer requirements and may support and implement product extensions to existing platform products to meet specific customer requirements. They are the key experts in the products they are responsible for at TE.

Tasks and Responsibilities

 

VA/VE (Value Analysis and Value Engineering) focused:

  • Responsible for assigned VA/VE projects execution & ability to promote new VA/VE opportunities.
  • Responsible for VA/VE projects co-ordination & ability to promote new VA/VE opportunities.
  • Manage TEBIT (TE Business Improvement Tracker – Savings)
  • Ability, experience, and interest in process improvements
  • Partner with Procurement & Finance team to account for predicted savings and track, validate, and post financial/operational results.

 

Product Engineering focused:

  • Define test procedures based on requirements and/or customers or international/external specifications, assess results and provide conclusions.
  • Ensure product manufacturability.
  • Responsible for fit, form and function of assigned products.
  • Create & modify drawings/models.
  • Define and keep product performance documents, write, and maintain product specifications.
  • Define failure modes, root causes and corrective actions.
  • Ensure that product performance is preserved throughout product life cycle.

What your background should look like:

 

  • Master or Bachelor degree in mechanical / plastics technology.
  • 3 to 5 years minimum of experience with high volume manufacturing environment (plastic components, stamping terminals and connector assemblies).
  • 3 to 5 years minimum working knowledge of CAD software (Creo/Solidworks or similar).
  • Knowledge about connector technology
  • Ability to interpret drawing and Geometric tolerances
  • Ability to lead meetings with multiple locations spread globally
  • Proactive and able to communicate at every level within organization
