Job Overview

TE Connectivity's Manufacturing and Process Development Engineering Teams significantly impact LEANPD driven new product development projects, driving for excellence in existing manufacturing technologies and methods and striving to implement new manufacturing technologies to provide improved process and tolerance control. They act as the binding element between product development and manufacturing engineering, ensuring the effectiveness and efficiency of this critical interface. They support Product Development in the optimization of designs and piece parts for manufacturability by realizing sample tooling/products/prototypes. They also design, develop, and qualify tooling and processes to meet TE quality and production standards, document all processes and tooling in applicable TE systems, support supply chain to verify supplier compliance and capability, initiate and implement programs to continuously improve quality, cost and cycle time and adhere to all appropriate specifications, regulatory requirements and customer requirements. 

The Manufacturing engineer position (automation) is responsible for factory automation, evolving the confluence of IT, electronics, automation and mechanics, this spearhead of industrial innovation designs and manufactures complex automated systems: Machines, automations, robots... 
The main task of the automation engineer is to specify complex specifications; define required bill of materials on machine development phase (electrical, automation, pneumatical, command…), he performs the programming of the PLCs during which he will define and follow their tests. Main responsible for the various technical choices made within TE in the field of automation, the automation engineer is also a high-level negotiator. 
These tasks can only be designed in close collaboration with R&D team, Process team, production, maintenance, etc..., suppliers and service providers. The automation engineer must also justify the stakes of the expenses incurred 
TE Connectivity's Manufacturing Engineering Teams are process leaders for assembly related topics, ensuring the processes are running at optimum levels for quality and output. They are experts machining and assembly techniques, possessing extensive knowledge of the associated manufacturing processes which may include the optimization and standardization of assembly or other processes within the manufacturing environment. Manufacturing Engineering Teams enable the TE business unit plants to reach TE Operating Advantage (TEOA) requirements, roll out Centers of Excellence (COE), Best Demonstrated Practices (BDP’s) and advise plants on tool and machine duplications / corrections / improvements. They design and develop manufacturing process and automation platforms and apply them for the realization of new product developments as well as optimization of existing products already in production. The Teams also support Product Development in the selection and optimization of tools for piece part production and the selection of the most suitable manufacturing concepts relative to planned manufacturing quantities, quality requirements and manufacturing location. They act as interface between engineering and production to ensure manufacturability of new designs and smooth production ramp up as well as support the research & development teams to produce sample manufacturing equipment, product samples and prototypes.
 

Tasks Summary and Responsibilities

•     Developing and maintaining clear and accurate documentation and status of automation equipment or processes 
•     Simulating and testing these processes or equipment to ensure they function as desired  
•     Troubleshooting automated processes or equipment when errors occur 
•     Ensure the immigration from manual to automatic processes. 
•     Ensure standardization of technical document 
•     Participate in the elaboration of machine quotations & costs estimation
•    Has strong impact in LEANPD driven new product development projects 
•    Drives for excellence in existing manufacturing technologies and methods
•    Strives to implement new manufacturing technologies to provide improved process and tolerance control
•    Designs, develops, and qualifies tooling and processes to meet TE quality and production standards
•    Documents all processes and tooling in applicable TE systems (SAP, TLM)
•    Possesses an extensive knowledge of the associated manufacturing processes, which may include the optimization and standardization of processes within the manufacturing environment.
•    Designs and develops manufacturing process platforms and automation platforms, and applies these for the realization of new product developments as well as optimization of existing products already in production
•    Study the assignments received. Based on these, it estimates and determines labor, energy and material requirements.
•    Analyses the technical problems that arise and proposes solutions.
•    Controls the economical use of available material and intellectual capital and negotiates with experts and representatives of foreign companies.
•    Negotiates with experts and representatives of foreign companies.
•    Maintains and adheres to all appropriate specifications, regulatory requirements and customer requirements
•    Responsible for carrying out duties in accordance with the current quality, environmental, and work and safety, health protection policies of the company as well as the duties defined in employee’s scope of responsibilities
 

What your background should look like:

Educational Degree: Bac+5 Engineering degree in Automation, Industrial or Electrical Engineering 

Professional Experience: 3 to 4 years related professional experience with 2 years in machine’s automation development and PLC programming in Automotive manufacturing environment.

•    Basic knowledge of general engineering tools (LEAN or 6-sigma) such as DoE, FMEA, QFD, etc. & Structured problem-solving experience; A3, DMAIC

•    Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management, customers, and external regulatory officials.  Technical report writing and excellent record keeping required.
