Job Overview

The Supplier Development Engineer is the owner of the Supplier Development Program and Supplier Academy/ Onboarding process for Quality topics.
Main Responsible for Selection, Assessment, and Approval Process for New Suppliers. Expert to suppliers in QMS (ISO 9001 etc.), LEAN Tools, Problem Solving Tools, and TE Systems. Work with SQE and Procurement in Supplier Cost Improvement Workshops
 

Tasks Summary & Responsibilities (please enclose organizational charts)

  • Assessment and Qualification of New Suppliers
  • Execute Global / Regional Supplier Development Strategy
  • Quality representative on Sourcing decisions
  • Supports Supplier Cost related Improvement Workshops (i.e., reduction of CoPQ) in collaboration with Procurement CoE
  • Supplier management procedure/systematic improvement
  • Training Experts within SQ Function. Owner of Supplier Academy and Onboarding Process for Quality and Stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with SQE to provide onboarding training for new suppliers on TE systems and procedures.
  • Support suppliers for System Development according to ISO when applicable (i.e., ISO 9001 etc.)
  • Monitor the Supplier’s performance during the Supplier Development Program and escalate to Procurement if required.
  • Owner of Supplier Escalation Process due to Quality topics (NBH, Focus Supplier Programs, etc.) 
  • Quality issue handling and Problem-Solving activities, perform systematic/process audit when SQE function is not available in the region.
  • Potential Analysis at Suppliers, technical and problem-solving support.
     

What your background should look like:

Educational Background: 

  • B.S. degree (or equivalent) in Electrical/Mechanical/Industrial Engineering, or a related field

Professional experience

  • At least 5 years of experience within connector and cable assembly Quality Management portion. Procurement is a plus.
  • Expert Knowledge of ISO 9001, LEAN Tools, and other Industry Standards
  • Certified ISO 9001 auditor by 2nd party auditor. 
  • Problem Solving Tools
  • Six Sigma Green/black Belt experience preferred.

Special Qualifications, Knowledge & Skills:

  • Demonstrated skills in a matrix environment
  • Knowledge of specific products and processes as required (e.g. Molding, Stamping, Mechanical Assembly, PAB/PCBA, diecasting…)
  • Expert level with the tools related to supplier APQP process, including but not limited to PPAP, FMEA, CP, MSA, SPC, R@R, and 8D methodology.
  • Ability to work across cultures and geographies effectively.
  • Thorough knowledge of Problem-Solving tools (5-Why, Ishikawa/Fishbone diagrams, Fault Tree Analysis) 
  • Auditor Skills
  • SAP basic knowledge
  • Basic knowledge of GD&T
  • Strong Presentation skills
  • Strong Communication and negotiation skills
  • Strong Coaching skills
  • Business accumen regarding part cost structure/ breakdown
