Job Overview

As a Staff level Resident Engineer for TE Connectivity, you will be the technical interface and initial contact point for one or more specific OEM customers during their vehicle launches and subsequent production phases. You will be responsible for knowing how to apply our products, familiarity with the validation testing and technical specifications and for socializing customer questions and issues within TE. You will coordinate with TE’s Sustaining Engineering, Project Management, Sales, Quality and other functions as needed to provide a coordinated response to customer questions and issue resolution.

Job Requirements

What you are responsible for:

  • An ability to identify new interconnect opportunities and solutions to meet customer needs, propose modifications and enhancements to customer specifications and work with our Development and Sustaining Engineering teams to support the design of these new concepts.
  • Lead/participate in Customer engineering and internal team meetings to ensure timely project execution and planned breakpoints are achieved.  
  • Conduct on-site installation and service of product; Handle on site vehicle assembly plant trials, problem investigation, root cause and follow-up corrective actions/technical support. 
  • Participate in the customer’s engineering activities; communicate with the program Team; be familiar with the customers system requirements and proactively manage their needs.
  • Manage technical aspects of the sales cycle including marketing support for the development and implementation of new and existing products. 
  • Provide customer service to solve complex interconnect problems and technical inquiries by working closely with the customer and internal product teams to plan and negotiate required testing requirements.
  • Build rapport and provide customer support by supplying information related to samples, delivery dates, part drawings, specifications and quality issues.
  • Manage documentation for customer and internal engineering changes / design studies. Track customer part numbers and provide sample requests.
  • Periodic travel is required based on project needs.


 

What your background should look like

  • 10 years professional working experience in the automotive interconnect (connectors, terminals, wire harness assemblies) industry.
  • Experience supporting GM and knowledge of their systems are significant advantages for this role.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Engineering, Electrical or Mechanical preferred.
  • Ability to effectively organize and prioritize issues and make intelligent, timely decisions independently or in coordination with other cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication skills; written, verbal and interpersonal.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications including Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint.

COMPENSATION
•    Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $129,600 – $162,000 (subject to change dependent on physical location)
•    Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
•    Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
