At TE, you will unleash your potential working with people from diverse backgrounds and industries to create a safer, sustainable and more connected world.

TE Connectivity's R&D/Product Development Engineering teams conceive original ideas for new products and bring them to life. They are responsible for product development and qualification from market identification through production to commercialization; participate in the qualification of new product suppliers to ensure that they provide quality parts, materials and services for new or improved manufacturing processes; conduct feasibility studies, test new and modified designs; lead and participate in detailed design, testing, prototype manufacturing and production ramp-up. R&D/Product Development engineering teams provide all required product documentation including solid models, 2D/3D production drawings, product specifications and test requirements. They create and modify detailed and draft drawings or conceptual models from sketches, preliminary sketches or notes, and participate in design modifications to facilitate manufacturing or ensure product quality. These teams typically include the following skills: materials, mechanical and systems, electrical, optical, chemical, software, automation systems, packaging, test and measurement, manufacturing of electrical, mechanical, and electronic products and components, and integration of these components into systems.

  • Translate customer specifications into internal requirements, and update and track the corresponding compliance matrix.
  • Manage feasibility study and prototype assembly as required.
  • Working closely with the project manager and project team, coordinate product design to create a high-quality, cost-effective solution.
  • Leverage a reliability engineer external to the team to define an optimized validation plan based on the mission profile of the final application using methods such as HALT and TTF (test to failure)
  • Create technical justification documents (QFD, Pugh matrix, benchmarking, DFMEA, specifications, system integration).
  • Develop and evaluate functional safety concepts and specify requirements for process steps such as EOL learning/calibration.
  • Lead peer reviews during product development, ensure compliance with guidelines and contribute to their update or creation when required.
  • Provide instructions to design teams (electronic, software, mechanical and process)
  • Monitor the manufacturing of prototypes (subcontractors, suppliers) and conduct reviews as needed
  • Evaluate and manage product validations (functional, environmental, electrical, EMC)
  • Report progress on meeting customer requirements, performance, costs and delivery dates on assigned projects.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate risks associated with the design of assigned projects by leveraging,
  • Build your own network within the TRS Engineering technical community (SME) to leverage lessons learned and expertise available outside your team to challenge proposed solutions,
  • Perform benchmark analysis, coordinate teardown analysis and performance comparison and cost analysis regarding competitor products

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in (Electrical Engineering, Electronics)
  • Fluency in English, and French will be a plus
  • 4+ years of product development through full life cycle developments (initial research and development to series launch) for the automotive industry preferred
  • Experience in all aspects of automotive design, development and deployment of automotive products. Experience interacting with automotive customers in product development. Sensor products are a plus. Experience with supplier interactions in product development phases or engineering changes for production products.
  • High team player, sharing your knowledge to develop expertise with other team members
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to interact professionally with management, stakeholders, cross-functional teams (engineering, product management, manufacturing, quality, purchasing, finance, sales) and subject matter experts
