Job Overview

TE Connectivity's Materials Planning Teams are responsible for the plans, schedules, and monitoring of the movement of material through the production cycle. They determine quantity and order date for materials to meet production or engineering schedules, initiate purchase or production requisitions compliant with supply agreements, and develop the schedule to be used in the production facility based on forecasts and historical analysis. The Team develops specifications for new contract orders as well as forecasts and plans for labor requirements. They provide timely and accurate input on supplier performance and may be asked to participate in higher level supplier performance reviews with the strategic sourcing team. They also monitor cost, schedule and scope of assigned subcontracts to assure best quality at best value.

Main Tasks

  • Full responsibility for materials planning related to assigned product line through managing all internal and external customer calls, and determining what action to take and communicating information as required to the rest of the team.
  • Identify potential risks to the supply chain, identify root causes and develop contingency plans to mitigate these risks.
  • Maintenance of rolling orderbooks for customer requirements, ensuring plans are kept up to date and customers notified in advance of any changes to order
  • Ensuring that material and capacity feasible production plan is set to ensure customer orders are fulfilled on time to their requirement.
  • Updating materials plan in preparation for the weekly load meeting
  • Liaising with Production Scheduler/Value stream leader on any changes to the production or materials plan.
  •  Work closely with cross-functional teams, including sales, marketing, production, and logistics, to gather information and align on orders from customers or demand forecasts.
  •   Maintain in real-time SAP with correct and confirmed dates
  •  Take proper decisions in regards of material flow in order to maintain stock level in optimum range
  •  Monitor inventory levels and collaborate with supply chain and procurement teams to address any shortages or excesses.
  • Process, launch and follow purchase orders to assigned suppliers; establish contact with new suppliers for new projects. Communicate effectively with suppliers to ensure timely and accurate supply of products.
  • Track assigned suppliers performance in terms of delivered quantities, dates and services
  • Select optimum transport solutions, set and follow premium freight request in the system
  • Follow and offer proper solutions to customer complaints and evaluate and develop actions to improve the service quality
  • Reviewing MOQs, lead-times and safety stocks with Procurement, manufacturing and adjusting where appropriate
  • Attending daily PIM meetings, weekly load meetings with supervisor’s and management when required
  • Audit  Master Data for assigned part numbers and recommending improvements.
  • Execution of scripts and programs for SAP enhancements required
  • Monthly & quarterly billings & inventory targets for assigned part numbers.

What your background should look like

  • 2 – 3 years of experience in materials OR production planning
  • Experience in SAP is a must have or similar MRP system
  • Degree level or equivalent
  • Highly effective communication skills in all forms
  • Good organizational skills with an ability to work effectively to deadlines
  • A high attention to detail with an ability to follow through on commitments
  • Strong numeracy including intermediate to advanced level in Microsoft Excel
  • Good understanding of business processes and their interdependencies
  •  Ability to work without supervision while also being a team player with excellent communication skills
  •  Strong problem-solving skills, able to work under time pressure
  •  Highly motivated, enthusiastic, and customer-oriented
