Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams conceive original ideas for new products, introduce them into practice. They are responsible for product development, and qualification from market definition through production and release; assist in the qualification of suppliers for new products to ensure suppliers deliver quality parts, materials, and services for new or improved manufacturing processes; conduct feasibility studies, testing on new and modified designs; direct and support detailed design, testing, prototype fabrication and manufacturing ramp. The R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams provide all required product documentation including, but not limited to, Solid Model, 2D/3D production drawings, product specifications, and testing requirements. They create and modify detailed drawings and drafting or conceptual models from layouts, rough sketches or notes and contribute to design modifications to facilitate manufacturing operation or quality of product. Typical fields of expertise include: materials, mechanics and systems, electrical, optics, chemistry, software, automation systems, packaging, testing and measurement, and manufacturing of electrical, mechanical and electronic components, products, and their integration into systems.

What your background should look like:

A Day in the Life

•    Develop and scale-up of new test systems (software and hardware) for MEMS pressure sensors.
•    Develop alternative sensor interface circuitry and related test methods.
•    Understand customers’ applications and design products to meet application demands.
•    Interface with operations and engineering in case of test, process, or product issues.
•    Evaluate and implement sensor system calibration schemes.
•    Design, Develop, Analyze, Test and support manufacturing of new pressure sensors during the NPD process (LEANPD) in liaison with cross functional teams such as scientists, product managers, process development and manufacturing.
•    Partner with US R&D engineering to understand products and existing processes to improve cost and efficiency (VA/VE projects).
•    Analyze quantitative information and applies professional judgement to resolve a variety of moderately complex problems, using problem solving methods.
•    Prototype development in collaboration with platform R&D engineers and process development team.
•    Prepare procedures and test plans to evaluate products for design verification (DVP&R), product validation (PVP&R) or product improvement, interpreting results.
•    Expected to interface with cross functional team members in completion of design control documentation through Design Reviews during an ECO and NPI process in a timely manner.
•    Manage Product Lifecycle Management process for new and existing products.
•    Interface with vendors to develop new components and improve quality and performance.
•    Develop mathematical models and calibration/test set ups when required

What your background should look like:

•    An MS in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or related.
•    5 years of related working experience.
•    Experience with PLM systems (PDM link - Preferred) and ERP systems (SAP – preferred) for BOM & Part creation and maintenance. 
•    Knowledge of New Product Development Process with Stage-Gate Process (APQP, PPAP).
•    Data analysis skills (theoretical skills, as well as software skills).
•    General programming knowledge, specifically advanced LabVIEW skills (preferred).
•    Experience with semiconductor, sensor and/or MEMS testing.
•    Experience with sensor calibration processes and signal-conditioning ASICs.
•    PCB design and layout experience.
•    Hands-on experience with bench top setups as well as “rack and stack” test systems.
•    Ability to draft, publish and present test results and conclusions in customer-ready reports.
•    Experience with handling of delicate medical products, is a plus
•    Design For Six Sigma (Green or Black belt) is a big plus.
•    Demonstrated written and oral communications skills 
•    Must be proficient in English – Fluent
