Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams conceive original ideas for new products, introduce them into practice. They are responsible for product development, and qualification from market definition through production and release; assist in the qualification of suppliers for new products to ensure suppliers deliver quality parts, materials, and services for new or improved manufacturing processes; conduct feasibility studies, testing on new and modified designs; direct and support detailed design, testing, prototype fabrication and manufacturing ramp. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
•    Leverage a structured new product development process and stage gate frameworks to lead project engineering activities from initial research & development throughout the entire project development lifecycle either New Product Introduction and/or Advanced Development Projects:
o    Requirements Management – Translate Product Requirement Document (PRD) into Specifications
o    Sample build plans and Validation Testing (DV & PV)
o    PPAP & release for local customer
•    Knowledge Transfer of Sensing Technologies and Sensors Product Lines Design & Process know-how to sustain product in mass production and execute New Business Opportunities in the region.
•    Partner with Global Design Center and Product Line Center of Expertise to support product development and drive significant business growth for Rotary Position, Linear Position Sensors and Level Sensing product portfolios.
•    Coordinate and Execute flawlessly, on-time and First Time Right the engineering deliverables: DFMEA, Models, Drawings, Testing Plans, Reliability Plans, Testing Reports, just to name a few.
•    Define DV & PV testing plans to validate product design according to customer requirements and collaborate with Reliability Experts to define Reliability Testing Plans to validate product lifetime performance and product limitations.
•    Drive and meet Operating Income goals through the coordination and execution of cost reduction projects (VA/VE – Value Analysis Value Engineering).
•    Collaborate with Quality, Manufacturing, Operations, Sales to drive Operating Income by sustaining the products in mass production ensuring production deliveries On-time, On-quality and On-Cost.
•    Manage Project and Product changes through the Change Management process ensuring customer alignment and approval.
•    Drive engineering efficiency, functional excellence, and productivity through Resource Management (Resource Timesheets/Forecasting)

What your background should look like:

  • Bachelor's Degree in technical discipline (Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Material Science, Physics)
  • At least 10 years combined Design/Product development engineering and Leadership experience.
  • Proven success in Engineering leadership in a multicultural environment and proven people leader with minimum 3 years in combined direct reporting or matrix reporting leadership.
  • Solid experience of new product development and introduction of Sensors or related Electrical Devices into the Automotive or ICT (Industrial Commercial Transportation) industry.  Experience should include full lifecycle developments; all aspects from initial research & development, requirements analysis, specification development, concept development, design, testing & validation, qualification and production release of Transportation Sensors/Electrical products.
  • Experience defining testing plans to validate products according to customer requirements.
  • Strong business acumen relative to project business case development and market analysis, capital management, Return of Engineering, P&L, and budget management.
  • English Advanced.
