Job Overview
TE Connectivity’s R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams conceive original ideas for new products, introduce them into practice. They are responsible for product development, and qualification from market definition through production and release; assist in the qualification of suppliers for new products to ensure suppliers deliver quality parts, materials, and services for new or improved manufacturing processes; conduct feasibility studies, testing on new and modified designs; direct and support detailed design, testing, prototype fabrication and manufacturing ramp. The R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams provide all required product documentation including, but not limited to, Solid Model, 2D/3D production drawings, product specifications, and testing requirements. They create and modify detailed drawings and drafting or conceptual models from layouts, rough sketches or notes and contribute to design modifications to facilitate manufacturing operation or quality of product. Typical fields of expertise include: materials, mechanics and systems, electrical, optics, chemistry, software, automation systems, packaging, testing and measurement, and manufacturing of electrical, mechanical and electronic components, products, and their integration into systems.
What your background should look like:


Execute the vision and strategy for the Americas Transportation Sensors Engineering organization
Lead 5-8 Product and Process development engineers responsible for the success of regional Product Development and Sustaining Engineering projects
Act as a technical partner to commercial/sales teams to position TE as a technology leader
Lead the development of application design solutions in collaboration with US
Partner with MX Operations to ensure a smooth transition and launch of development projects into production
Providing individual development plans, coaching, and mentorship to team members
NPI process gaps identified and closed per plan established with Regional and US Leaders.
Prepare procedures and test plans to evaluate products for design verification (DVP&R), product validation (PVP&R) or product improvement, interpreting results.
Perform field failure analysis along with cross functional teams to find root cause and propose solutions to optimize designs.
Expected to interface with cross functional team members in completion of design control documentation through Design Reviews during an ECO and NPI process in a timely manner.
Manage Product Lifecycle Management process for new and existing products.
Mitigation plan or effective problem solving of design errors found after or during Validation Phase

BS Engineering required. Preferred discipline: Mechanical, Electronics.
Postgraduate in Engineering field or MBA Preferred.
10+ years minimum combined engineering experience with minimum 5 years in product & process development and introduction in the Transportation Markets (Automotive, Industrial Commercial Transportation, Aerospace).  Experience required in the field of advanced sensors development:
Position, Pressure, Temperature sensor types
Hall effect applications (Seat Position Sensor, Transmission) is a plus
Mechanical packaging with complex geometries
PCB integration and ASIC experience is a big plus
Sensors End of Line Testing (EOL) process development
Experience in sensing elements (MEMS) development is a plus
Proven success in Engineering leadership and proven people leader with minimum 5 years in combined direct reporting or matrix reporting leadership.
5+ years of experience with CAD modeling & drafting using Creo PTC and PLM software (PDM link preferred).
Proven experience in Mechanical and Magnetostatics Simulation is a plus.
Proven experience in a dynamic development environment managing trade-off decisions to optimize product design and process design leveraging DFM/ DFA.
Experience working with multiple suppliers to develop and launch components and assemblies on time
Expertise on Design Validation and Product Validation planning, execution and report for the Automotive industry (Environmental, Mechanical, Electrical tests knowledge)
Strong DFM / DFA / Concurrent Development Experience.  Familiarity with Design for Six Sigma, lean principles, quality engineering practices and principles.
Proficient in Automotive quality management systems IATF, AIAG and regulatory requirements like IMDS and Functional Safety ASIL.
