Job Overview

The Plant Manager will oversee the daily operations of the manufacturing plant, driving operational excellence across production, engineering, quality control, and supply chain functions. The role focuses on meeting financial and operational performance goals, ensuring safety and compliance, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. Experience in sensor production is considered a plus but is not a mandatory requirement.

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Responsible for the day-to-day operations and long-term planning for manufacturing functions, including Safety, manufacturing, production control, engineering, inventory control, purchasing and shipping/receiving activities and quality
  • Translates customer requirements into state-of-the-art manufacturing strategies and processes, resulting in cost-effective processing and profitable manufacturing of company products, in alignment with the central Manufacturing Engineering function
  • Sets production schedules based on product introduction, equipment efficiency, materials supply, staffing resources and volume required to meet demand and to ensure maximum production quantity and quality 
  • Developing and managing operations-related plans, budgets, policies, procedures and compliance activities for the manufacturing activities, and driving its proper deployment throughout the plant by using Hoshin or similar Strategy Deployment tool
  • Drive an efficient manufacturing operations agenda with an emphasis on Lean Manufacturing strategies that result in improved business results
  • Set and implement a plan to execute the S&OP process to achieve superior operational efficiencies and Extraordinary customer experience. Provides S&OP engagements and delivers accordingly
  • Leads continuous improvement efforts through the deployment of our Lean system (TEOA), addressing Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost-improvement activities
  • Leads by example and establishes Leadership Standard Work at the site, leads Tier Meeting processes and Daily Management in the shopfloor, including recurrent Gemba Walks with his team
  • Achieves financial targets by monitoring key performance indicators such as production efficiency, cost-per-unit, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE)
  • Ensures alignment with central manufacturing functions to maintain cost-efficient production and meet profitability goals
  • Develops and implements risk management plans to anticipate and mitigate production disruptions, supply chain challenges, and safety issues, ensuring business continuity
  • Develops and implements an Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) roadmap aligned with corporate Standards
  • Drives strategic workforce planning and successful talent development strategies aligned to business needs, OLR and strategic succession planning outcomes/requirements, and seasonality
  • Drives employee engagement by creating a recognition-focused culture and ensuring clear communication across all Levels
  • Leads change management efforts for large-scale transformations, ensuring smooth adoption of new processes, systems, and technologies while minimizing disruption to daily operations

What your background should look like:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Minimum 7-10 years of experience in manufacturing, with at least 5 years in a management role, preferably in a fast-paced, high-mix production environment
  • Experience in sensor production is a plus, especially in environments requiring precision manufacturing and rigorous quality control
  • Proven success in managing plant transformations, improving operational efficiency, and driving continuous improvement initiatives
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, including production scheduling, quality control, and supply chain management
  • Experience with lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies
  • Proficiency with ERP and MES systems (e.g., SAP) and the ability to use data to drive operational decisions
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities, with experience engaging and developing high-performing teams
  • Excellent communication and conflict management skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally and lead through influence
  • Proactive problem-solver with the ability to manage complex challenges and deliver long-term solutions
  • Fluency in English is required; proficiency in Romanian and other languages is a plus
