The Strategic Sourcing Global Category Leader drives the vision, direction and execution of the Metals Direct Materials spending categories for TE Connectivity’s Sensors business. The Category Leader will significantly enhance business performance through the effective leadership of a strategic component of the Sensors business spend.
He/she will lead the organization in developing and executing a strategy to leverage the spend to enable a strategic technology roadmap, improve productivity, optimize cost efficiency and align with key business unit roadmaps. This is a critical leadership role, tasked with driving this category to world class performance in sourcing, procurement and supplier management.
Key Interfaces: Industrial, medical, and transportation business line leaders, Chief Technology Officer, Manufacturing leaders, Center Led Metals Procurement, and Supply Chain Leader.
Your main tasks:
- Lead the sourcing and procurement of Metals related spend categories. This includes the category strategy, planning, and executing combined with supplier evaluation, selection, contracting, performance and development.
- Drive the creation of long term supply and technology development agreements with the metals supplier
- Drive negotiation of the metals suppliers to obtain competitive purchasing conditions for TE
- Ensure timely delivery of qualified direct materials to support business requirements
- Define overall strategic direction for category team, including defining and driving performance metrics, assuring supplier diversity and compliance, deploying cost modeling, and developing appropriate market intelligence
- Develop and enable the integration of best practices across the Sensors business for this category globally, ensuring the best use of effective sourcing and supply chain tools, techniques and processes
- Oversee the management of existing supplier relationships and the selection of new sources of supply where needed and appropriate, ensuring that high quality and cost-effective materials are available to the company in building a Resilient supply chain
- Leverage a global perspective to quickly assimilate external information (e.g. market drivers, macroeconomic conditions, etc.) to anticipate its impact across the business and develop associated strategies and action plans to maximize the opportunity
- Think and act globally to lead and collaborate effectively on a cross-functional basis. Align business unit, local, regional and global organizations to maximize achievement of sourcing objectives and continuity of supply to position sourcing as a competitive advantage for the company.
Your ideal background:
- Bachelor’s degree (Masters Preferred) in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business or Finance.
- 10+ years of leadership experience in Procurement, Supply Chain, and/or Operations functions.
- Metals sourcing or industry experience in global, high complexity and mix, manufacturing environments.
- Strong track record of developing and implementing a strategic plan resulting in significant financial and operational benefits for the organization.
- Has worked in multiple geographies and comfortable with different cultures.
- Change management aptitude and experience.
- Motivated, self-driven, positive approach to consensus building and problem solving.
- Highly competent across Procurement and manufacturing competencies, systems, and practices.
- Proficient with ERP systems, business intelligence applications, data mining, and analysis.
- Advanced Planning and Supplier Collaboration platform experience is a bonus.
- APICS CPIM or CSCP certification or equivalent experience preferred
- Excellent English (verbal / written) required
- Work Location: Remote (EMEA/TIMI preferred)
- Travel Requirements: Up to 25% (domestic and international)
