Job Overview

TE Connectivity's Manufacturing and Process Development Engineering Teams significantly impact LEANPD driven new product development projects, driving for excellence in existing manufacturing technologies and methods and striving to implement new manufacturing technologies to provide improved process and tolerance control. They act as the binding element between product development and manufacturing engineering, ensuring the effectiveness and efficiency of this critical interface. They support Product Development in the optimization of designs and piece parts for manufacturability by realizing sample tooling/products/prototypes. They also design, develop, and qualify tooling and processes to meet TE quality and production standards, document all processes and tooling in applicable TE systems, support supply chain to verify supplier compliance and capability, initiate and implement programs to continuously improve quality, cost and cycle time and adhere to all appropriate specifications, regulatory requirements and customer requirements.

What your background should look like:

Key Tasks/Responsibilities:
•    New molding process development, including process documentation and qualification 
•    Support transfer of new products from development.  Support AD&M consolidation efforts, including leading tool move projects.
•    Apply extensive knowledge to the design, build and procurement of molding tooling 
•    Interact with vendors to resolve molded component design, processing, resin and quality issues including cost, through put and capacity.
•    Initiate and review both product and mold design considerations including leading mold constructions.  Develop and coordinate new tool builds including existing tooling modifications and repairs.
•    Lead supplier development projects including: quick changeovers, LEAN implementation, waste reduction and improved cycle time.
•    Support insourcing and development of internal capabilities in the AD&M Tijuana facility.
•    Actively participate in process improvements and operational cost reduction programs.
•    Support product cost analysis, for reductions and comparative analysis for sourcing decisions. Identify and implement cost saving improvements as related to the molding process.
•    Support and maintain tooling databases.
•    Some international travel may be required.

•    Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent with specialized experience in molding processes
•    5 years of experience is preferred.
•    Advanced knowledge of mold processing and tooling designs for thermoplastics, thermosets, silicones and composites, including production methods and quality assurance methods.
•    Ability to utilize Computer Aided Design (CAD) and/or 3D Modeling software related to mold/tooling design reviews.
•    Project Management experience preferred.
•    Previous experience working with off shore suppliers and vendors is helpful.
•    Working knowledge of six sigma and lean manufacturing tools.
•    Green or Black Belt Sig Sigma certified preferred
•    Knowledge in Mil-aero products is desirable but not a requirement.
•    Team player, hands-on attitude, self-motivated, ability to work with little supervision.Exercises judgment within established procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
•    Ability to communicate, listen, and participate. 
•    Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
•    Capability to work in a fasted paced.
•    Detailed oriented with demonstrated experience with technical writing
