Job Overview
The Senior Mold Maker is responsible for the assembly, correction, improvement, and overhaul of highprecision injection molds used in production.
The role serves as a senior technical expert within the toolshop, supporting mold design activities, troubleshooting molding defects, ensuring compliance with TE mold standards, and contributing to continuous improvement in mold performance, reliability, and maintainability.
This position requires a high level of autonomy, strong technical expertise, and the ability to support operations on critical molds while coaching and developing technical capabilities within the toolshop.
Your Main Tasks
- Assemble, disassemble, and validate precision injection molds, including complex mechanisms and hot runner systems.
- Perform mold corrections, modifications, and continuous improvements to enhance performance, durability, and maintenance efficiency.
- Support critical molds, major overhauls, and urgent interventions to minimize production downtime.
- Integrate and validate design changes and conversion kits in compliance with TE mold standards.
- Analyze molding defects and moldrelated production issues, define and implement effective corrective actions.
- Utilize knowledge of cavity pressure sensors to support troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
- Support the mold design phase by providing manufacturing and maintenance-oriented feedback and proposing technical solutions.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, GD&T, and tolerancing requirements.
- Use Creo CAD software to review mold assemblies and support design modifications.
- Perform inspection and measurement control using precision measuring instruments.
- Support and help manage assembly shop operations, including task prioritization and workload organization.
- Define required toolsand equipment for efficient mold assembly and maintenance activities.
- Ensure strict application of 5S, organization, and housekeeping standards within the assembly shop.
- Apply and promote toolshop safety practices and safe mold handling procedures.
- Act as a technical reference and mentor, supporting expertise development and coaching of junior toolmakers.
- Contribute to standardization, best practices, and continuous improvement initiatives within the toolshop.
Your Ideal Background
Education & Experience
- Technical education in Toolmaking, Mechanical Manufacturing, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in mold making and mold assembly.
- Proven experience with precision injection molds, pressure sensors and hot runner systems.
- Experience in mold corrections, improvements, and overhauls.
- Previous experience with molds for connectors is a strong advantage
Certifications, Physical & Behavioral Requirements
- Valid forklift and crane operating license.
- Good physical capability for mold handling and assembly activities.
- Excellent handeye coordination and manual dexterity.
- High level of autonomy and accountability in daily work.
- Strong problemsolving and analytical mindset.
- Ability to work effectively in a teambased manufacturing environment.
