Job Overview

TE Connectivity's Strategic Sourcing Teams develop and implement multi-year strategies for assigned commodities, suppliers and parts/services to achieve established goals in supplier quality, delivery, price and service. They align strategy and execution with cross-functional partners such as engineering, manufacturing, product management and functional owners. They execute the competitive bid, negotiation, contracting processes and/or technical continuous improvement for assigned commodities or services; collaborate across Business Units and cross-regions for optimal TE leverage. Our teams demonstrate a high level of expertise in procurement competencies (business/supply chain acumen, negotiation, sourcing strategy development and execution, global savvy, and project and product lifecycle management) and ensure results are delivered compliant with TE policies and procedures.

Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Participate as a strong, contributing member of a cross-functional NPI (new product introduction) team throughout all stages of the product lifecycle
  • Work closely with engineering and manufacturing to ensure the best suppliers and components are utilized in the design; negotiate pricing, terms, availability and lead times with suppliers
  • Prepare supply chain summary reports of the BOM (Bill of Material) to clearly define cost, lead times, supplier locations, component reuse and supply chain strategies.
  • Place Purchase Orders (POs) with suppliers for material required for product BOMs during NPI process
  • Prepare new product ramp up plan with Planner and communicate to suppliers, provide status of component availability to Planning and Operations 
  • Work with the Planners to identify Raw Material needs and develop a feasible inventory plan that meets business requirements of Quality, Cost, and Launch Timeliness during NPI process
  • Collaborate regularly with Supply Base Managers to ensure alignment with strategic sourcing goals & initiatives
  • Work as required with engineering to ensure supplier products are qualified
  • Coordinate with suppliers on all readiness criteria (e.g. cost, quality, availability, continuity of supply, etc.) to support both development and product launch, including development of ramp up schedule with program team and communication and management with suppliers.
  • Prepare periodic reports, financial statements and records on program activities, progress, status or other special reports for management
  • Work closely with Quoting and Estimating and Finance teams to ensure that accurate product quotes are created for customers.

Special Qualifications, Knowledge & Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
  • Total cost evaluation and analysis of supplier spend and consolidation. 
  • Ability to work with suppliers in both foreign and domestic markets
  • Working knowledge of assembly & manufacturing processes
  • Ability to manage multiple orders in a fast paced operation. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, meet deadlines and follow through. 
  • High degree of accuracy and detail.   
  • Ability to effectively prioritize multiple tasks

What your background should look like:

Educational Degree
BS degree in Business, Finance, Engineering or other relevant area

Professional Experience 

Experience in project Management
Experience purchasing electronics, cable, molded or machine parts. 
Working knowledge of MRP
