Job Description: 

Job Overview

Ensures manufacturing support by providing tools and fixtures for production and evaluates the specifications of the parts and completed tools.
 

Job Requirements

  • •    Maintenance and repair of complex stamping tools for cutting, bending and assembly
    •    Preparation of tools
    •    Adjustment and start of these tools in the production process
    •    Measurement and validation of cut products
    •    Support for new tools
    •    Monitoring of tool improvements in the manufacturing process
    •    Optimization of cutting tools and processes
    •    Ensure the availability of machines for production
    •    Report breakdown root causes, equipment faults and concerns to management
    •    Provide training for new recruits,
    •    Identify and escalate any activity that has the potential to cause harm or damage
    •    Routine servicing and regrinding of tools 
    •    Attend breakdowns, identify fault and problem solve at the press with minimal downtime to aid production
    •    Evaluate each job and determine if it can be repaired in press or must be removed to Tool Room for essential maintenance and repair work 
    •    Estimate length of time required to complete a job and likely consequences of failure to complete work within required timescales 
    •    Identify and escalate any activity that has the potential to cause harm or damage

What your background should look like

Educational Qualification

  • Technician Certificate in Mechanical Manufacturing or Mechanical Manufacturing Methods.

Professional Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of significant experience in tool making.
  • Practical, hands-on approach to problem-solving.
  • Experience working in a production environment with demanding performance targets.
  • Good understanding of production costs, including waste, downtime, scrap, and rework.
  • Experience applying and maintaining 5S principles.

Technical Knowledge & Skills

  • Knowledge of measurement techniques and tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Good understanding of manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Understanding of cost implications and the financial impact of operational decisions.
  • Awareness of Health & Safety requirements and best practices.
