For all UK, Ireland and their associated overseas entities:

  • Responsible for UK & Ireland Statutory accounts including: producing the financial statements; providing expertise in accounting standards & disclosures; managing the statutory audit.
  • Providing expert guidance to management for non-routine/complex accounting scenarios.
  • Lead and participate in projects in support of corporate, business or legal entity/country initiatives.
  • Actively participate in and be able to take a leading role in selected tax compliance, accounting & reporting projects, including employer taxes.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

  • Act as subject matter expert for and prepare/review statutory financial statements including disclosures for circa 25 entities from large trading to small non-trading.
  • Act as local subject matter expert for US accounting standards.
  • Prepare US tax accounting periodic and annual reporting.
  • Provide expert opinion and guidance for non-routine/complex accounting matters.
  • Be the TE lead for statutory audits including organising and liaising with the audit firm.
  • Lead or support selected corporate and business projects and act on behalf of the function and the legal entity.
  • Represent the legal entity/country in corporate teams and in business partnering.
  • Act as functional lead for oversight over Employer Taxes compliance.
  • You will not be the company’s VAT, corporate tax or employer taxes subject matter expert, but experience in the following will be an advantage:
    • Employer Taxes compliance and reporting.
    • Managing tax enquiries, uncertain or contentious positions and direct liaison with tax authorities.
    • Oversight role of the integrity of corporate tax accounting and compliance-related processes.
    • Provide competent expertise/opinion for tax matters. Oversee and implement changes in Corporate Tax legislation.
    • Provide tax advice, analysis and management support for business planning and for non-routine events, including integrations, disposals and dissolutions.


Qualifications & technical background required:

  • University degree or equivalent further education qualification
  • A professional accounting or tax qualification - ACA / ACCA
  • Competent knowledge of UK statutory financial reporting and accounting standards and hands on experience in accounts preparation


Technical background highly desirable:

  • Good knowledge of UK Corporation Tax and Employer Taxes, with generalist knowledge across the main tax regimes
  • Hands on experience in the use of SAP or a similar system for financial accounting
  • Knowledge of trade compliance and cross-border procedures is advantageous


Experience required:

  • A proven technical accounting background 
  • Experience of working in a large company environment with international trade
  • Sound financial accounting experience. Prior audit experience would be advantageous
  • Experience in liaising for a large business with the UK tax authorities is advantageous
  • Project management
  • Strong IT / systems experience. SAP or similar system plus strong Excel skills
