The Aerospace, Defense and Marine (AD&M) business unit of TE is part of the Industrial Solutions segment -- a world leader in the design of components and electrical interconnection solutions that are used for applications in extreme and harsh environments. Job Overview

 

TE Connectivity's Strategic Sourcing Teams develop and implement multi-year strategies for assigned commodities, suppliers and parts/services to achieve established goals in supplier quality, delivery, price and service. They align strategy and execution with cross-functional partners such as engineering, manufacturing, product management and functional owners. They execute the competitive bid, negotiation, contracting processes and/or technical continuous improvement for assigned commodities or services; collaborate across Business Units and cross-regions for optimal TE leverage. Our teams demonstrate a high level of expertise in procurement competencies (business/supply chain acumen, negotiation, sourcing strategy development and execution, global savvy, and project and product lifecycle management) and ensure results are delivered compliant with TE policies and procedures.

Job Responsibilities

12 month FTC 

Reporting to the Aerospace Defence & Marine; ISG Procurement Manager, this position will involve taking full ownership of key commodities and vendors, to provide strategic purchasing support to the Swindon Operation. There will be some requirement for travel.

 

Key tasks of the job:

  • Take full ownership of specific commodity areas. Effectively manage the vendor base within the chosen commodity in line with business unit and centre led purchasing team goals.
  • Drive supplier performance improvements in key KPIs, in particular, on time delivery performance, quality, cost and lead time as well as inventory reduction programmes and payment terms.
  • Required to interact with all relevant internal departments on procurement matters.
  • Identify supplier risks, and actively manage, ensuring necessary actions are taken to mitigate the risks
  • Deliver year on year cost savings in line with corporate targets.
  • Work with engineering teams to identify cost reduction opportunities.
  • Identify true cost drivers to help deliver competitive supplier pricing.
  • Consolidate supplier base.
  • Working with global procurement teams identify and approve low cost country suppliers and materials that meet TE KPI requirements.
  • Negotiate short and long-term contracts with vendors.
  • Maintain current knowledge of relevant new technologies, materials, equipment and processes across a wide variety of commodities.
  • Monitor vendor Key Performance Indicators on a monthly basis, implementing corrective action plans where appropriate.
  • Identify and approve new value adding vendors in line with Business Unit and corporate policies.
  • Work closely with supply chain and operations to ensure continuity of supply to the business.
  • Ensure compliance to TE policies, procedures and quality standards.
  • Generate and analyse data and reports to show individual and supplier performance.
  • Produce and give presentations to suppliers and internal customers.
  • Work to the principles of 5S+1.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement.

 

What your background should look like:

 

Qualifications & specialist training required:

  • CIPS qualification preferred.
  • Good SAP knowledge beneficial.
     


Experience required:

 

  • Actively managing a diverse supply base.
  • Driving supplier KPI improvement.
  • Achieving year on year cost reductions.
  • Successfully working as part of a cross functional global team.
  • Experienced in working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Commodity experience across a broad range of raw materials and engineering components.

  • Full Understanding of supplier evaluation and approval process.
