The Aerospace, Defense and Marine (AD&M) business unit of TE is part of the Industrial Solutions segment -- a world leader in the design of components and electrical interconnection solutions that are used for applications in extreme and harsh environments. Job Overview

TE Connectivity's Manufacturing and Process Development Engineering Teams significantly impact LEANPD driven new product development projects, driving for excellence in existing manufacturing technologies and methods and striving to implement new manufacturing technologies to provide improved process and tolerance control. They act as the binding element between product development and manufacturing engineering, ensuring the effectiveness and efficiency of this critical interface. They support Product Development in the optimization of designs and piece parts for manufacturability by realizing sample tooling/products/prototypes. They also design, develop, and qualify tooling and processes to meet TE quality and production standards, document all processes and tooling in applicable TE systems, support supply chain to verify supplier compliance and capability, initiate and implement programs to continuously improve quality, cost and cycle time and adhere to all appropriate specifications, regulatory requirements and customer requirements.

RESPOSIBILITIES&QUALIFICATIONS

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:

  • Deliver step changing improvements to processes, procedures and products to achieve business performance targets.
  • Ensure and maintain a safe working environment. Ensuring all activities are carried out safely and safe working practices are adopted at all times.
  • Ensure hazard reports are filled out at the time of identification and recorded and closed out in an expedient time frame including any investigation and supporting documentation required.
  • Collate and Analyse data to provide solutions to Production and Technical problems.
  • Ensure product costings, standards and documentation is accurate.
  • Ensure all process changes are controlled and appropriately documented according to business procedures. Any changes to procedures / run conditions should be formally communicated, and recorded.
  • Ensure that engineers and operators are trained in the role fully and working to the correct procedures.
  • Ensure that all production paperwork is in place and correct and the computer systems have accurate data.
  • Support the Technical, Planning and Production managers through regular communication of project plans, ideas and delivery.
  • Take responsibility for own development to increase personal contribution to the business
  • Lead and facilitate an improvement culture
  • To lead and influence Technical, Sales, Product Management and Quality personnel in future operational issues.


Qualifications & specialist training required:

  • Degree preferred in electrical/manufacturing/mechanical engineering
  • Understanding / knowledge Wire & Cable manufacturing preferred but not essential
  • Six Sigma analysis – Green belt level or above required
  • 8D Problem Solving preferred
  • IOSH qualification preferred.

Particular skill / aptitude required:

  • Creativity and the ability to think outside normal accepted constraints.
  • Ability to evaluate risk and complexity of technical solutions.
  • Excellent communication at all levels along with relevant experience in a manufacturing environment
  • A high calibre professional with exposure and understanding of world-class  manufacturing
  • Effective Time Management Skills
  • Have a hands on, practical approach.
  • Have experience dealing with customers to establish and help define clear requirements & user friendly solutions
  • Be able to handle complexity and prioritise activities
  • Be enthusiastic and self-motivated with the ability to work flexibly
  • Ability to learn software packages (internal systems e.g. Raymos, Scoda etc. for manufacturing control information)
