Job Overview

TE Connectivity's Product Management Teams manage all aspects of a product, from driving new product development to manufacturing to marketing. They are responsible for overall product strategy, business leadership and capacity plans in order to meet sales and profit targets.

Terminals & Splices is a highly profitable product series generating more than $60M annual revenue. The current offering consists of 9 single GPL’s with key markets in Americas and EMEA and applications across several business units.

The mission is to build a growth strategy for existing / new products, execute the strategy and thus grow the business. The Global Product Manager acts as true “General Manager” driving ownership of the profit and loss of his product line.

As a Global Product Manager you will manage all aspects of a product and its complete lifecycle, from proactively driving new product development to manufacturing, to marketing with full global product line responsibility. You ensure accountability for internal and external customer satisfaction by covering e.g. TTM, delivery performance, response time, competitive intelligence, technology etc. in all GPL related matters. In close cooperation with Industry marketing and Channel Management you define market strategies and product roadmaps.

You play a strategic key role by acting as an internal consultant to management and other business units within your own area of expertise as well as the advisor to our customer on advanced technical issues.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Key Responsibilities:

 

Profit & Loss Ownership:

Manage the product line based on revenue, gross margin, pricing, productivity pipeline etc.

Customer and Market Know-How:

Develop deep understanding of customers and their Product needs. Analyze broader business context, including industry structure, competitive dynamics and distinctive capabilities. Provide insights in the competitor’s landscape and competitor products. Infuse the organization with a deep knowledge of customer product perspectives and requirements.

Product Strategy:

Synthesize and validate a long-term product roadmap based on SWOT analysis. Develop and communicate a detailed value proposition, business case and go-to-market strategy. Conceive and validate entirely new products and solutions. Champion new product and new business opportunities, gaining buy-in and resource commitment.

Formulate strategic plans to exponentially grow revenues in market segments.

Product Design:

Formulate high-level business requirements and low-level product requirements. Work with engineers to develop and continuously refine a user experience with extraordinary usability, craftsmanship, and production value. Collaborate with the engineering team to ensure that products meet requirements, ship on schedule and ultimately address the needs of customer and users. Collaborate to define customer requirements for current and future products based on market research, competitive analysis, understanding of the market, VOC (Voice of Customer) and sales team to understand customers’ technology needs and strategic direction.

Project Management:

Cross-functionally coordinate end-to-end product design, development, and go-to-market pipeline. Leads project implementation. Leading the New Product Introduction process of transferring the requirements to engineering, monitoring progress and ensuring timely and complete release of product according to agreed schedules.

 

Key Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Generally requires Master’s degree with several years of experience; or local equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience in Product Management
  • Demonstrates mastery of a specific discipline by integrating deep knowledge of theory and organizational practices into work; and or mastery across several different disciplines within a function
  • (only for internal candidates:) Knowledge of TE's Industrial products, applications and processes
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills; presents technically complex concepts in a way to foster understanding and acknowledgement of critical information
  • Develops solutions to problems of unusual complexity which require a high degree of ingenuity, creativity and innovation
  • Clear strategic and innovative thinker by developing product line vision, strategy and business plan with the ability to execute
  • Analysis market & industry trends, customer needs, competitors and translates information into product line plans
