Our Teams partner with internal/external departments to lead overall company parts/productions brand protection activities and help us continue to win in all markets.

TE Connectivity (TE) is seeking an Intellectual Property Counsel to work in our Suzhou office. This position will report to an Assistant General Counsel – China IP Lead.  The position will mainly support TE’s Automotive Business Units in APAC.  The successful candidate will be able to work closely with other IP department colleagues and provide IP legal advice and counseling to BU management and engineering teams. 
 

What your background should look like:

Responsibilities 
o    Counsel TE’s Automotive business unit across all levels and functions with respect to IP matters and strategy.
o    Conduct computer based intellectual property investigations including patent searching and provide guidance/counsel to inventors and business personnel.
o    Manage patent portfolio related activities including invention identification, patent committee meetings, and overseeing global patent application preparation and prosecution.
o    Render opinions on patentability, patent validity, third party IP risk assessment, and intellectual property enforcement and infringement matters.
o    Coordinate with engineering team and outside counsels in order to prepare patent application documents and response to official actions.
o    Manage the docket and workflow for China-originated inventions, as part of the TE patent portfolio.
o    Identify training needs, advise, plan, organize, coordinate and follow-up training programs in order to guide innovation and improve TE employee IP awareness.

 

Qualifications:
o    University degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Physics. 
o    Qualified China patent attorney with at least 6 years of patent legal experience, degree from accredited law school is desired.

 

Knowledge and Abilities:
o    Solid patent prosecution skills and knowledge of IP laws and practices in China. 
o    Experience with electro-mechanical components, cables, materials and/or other components in vehicle or data communication industrial is desirable.
o    The ability to convey complex legal concepts in a comprehensible and actionable business friendly manner.
o    Strong business acumen and communication skills.
o    Highly self-motivated, with the ability to proactively organize and manage multiple tasks and demonstrate excellent analytical abilities and problem-solving approach.
o    Good speaking and writing skills in both English and Mandarin.
