Job Overview

This is a position of data analyst, who would have the responsibility to create and manage visualizations and analyse manufacturing and engineering data in a Big Data / Hadoop environment. The goal is to enable operations to leverage data to develop business insights and roadmap updates based upon clearly arranged and understandable data.

You will take an active part in various initiatives relating to processes, tools, and technologies used to deliver world-class IT Big Data and Business Intelligence (BI) services. You will collaborate with Digital Engineering & Manufacturing Operations team and with local key users in peer reviews and in sharing lessons learned.

Responsibilities

  • Work with stakeholders throughout the organization to identify opportunities for leveraging company data to drive business solution
  • Use a combined knowledge of computer science and applications, statistics, analytics and maths to solve problems
  • Identify and interpret data sources, manage large amounts of data, merge data sources together, ensure consistency of data-sets, create visualizations to aid in understanding data
  • Enhancing data collection procedures to include information that is relevant for building analytic systems
  • Willingness to learn and able to pick up new technology or new concepts fast

What your background should look like:

Skills and Qualifications

  • Studies in economics, (Business administration,IT, Industrial engineering or a comparable course of study)
  • Good applied statistics skills, such as distributions, statistical testing, regression, etc.
  • Experience with Tableau and Power BI- creating dashboard reports and using visualizations to answer specific business questions.
  • Experience with common data science toolkits, such as R and Python {depending on specific project requirements}. Excellence in at least one of these is highly desirable
  • Experienced in writing and optimizing complex SQL queries
  • Experience in a Big Data technology (Hadoop, Impala, HIVE, AWS S3,Redshift)
  • Experience in ETL/ELT is a plus
  • Experience working with dimensional data, data lakes is a plus
  • Great communication skills
  • Advanced Excel capabilities
  • Great communication skills in German and English (preferred)

Preferred

  • Experience with data visualisation tools: Power BI and Tableau
  • Experience with big data tools and cloud services: Hadoop, AWS, Redshift, S3  
  • Experience with Python: developing scripted solutions to automate recurring processes and data analysis using pandas and requests libraries
