Job Overview

TE's Material's Corporate Technology Center is looking for an experienced Staff R&D Engineer to join our SG research group. This person will work with TE BUs and SG R&D management to ideate, matchmake and execute development projects through external collaborations ( local institutes and universities ). He/she will also be responsible for documenting project charter documents, provide technical updates and author technical disclosures and reports. The ideal candidate has an advanced science or engineering degree, with experience in leading development projects through concept, planning, execution and transfer. Experience in design, materials and microfabrication process in sensors, medical catheter / microfluidic is advantageous.



Job Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with TE Bus and R&D management to understand TE technology needs. Define initial project concept ( business case and technical approach), and matchmake for suitable collaboration partners.
  • Perform technical evaluation of proposals received and executive to successfully achieve deliverables/objectives. Conduct regular technical reviews with external partner to track project health, develop and communicate contingency plans for relevant risks, execute using best practices such as Agile/SCRUM, 6M root cause analysis , delineating action plans.
  • Is an SME ( Subject Matter Expert ) within the team, staying abreast of global-state-of-the-art in area of expertise, evaluates technical proposals and qualify external partner capabilities through regular literature/patent surveys, conference attendance, and partner scouting efforts.
  • Represent SG team in delivering technical presentations, papers and patent disclosures to the broader engineering community.
  • Maintain documentation of project charter (SOW, Gantt chart, roles & responsibilities, milestones and deliverables), conduct regular project reviews and report project status throughout projects' lifecycles


Job Requirements

  1. Engineering degree with PH.D. or Masters. Work experience involving design, materials and manufacturing process development. PMP certification is advantageous
  2. Experience in design and manufacturing principles of microfluidics and/or catheters
  3. Experience in stage-gate plan-execute-close framework. Adapt at managing highly cross-functional and technical teams
  4. Can efficiently evaluate and prioritize and adapt to multiple programs/projects. Ability to multitask is a must
  5. Comfortable with work in new technical domain
  6. Comfortable presenting to higher management levels
  7. Able to travel 15-30% locally and overseas occasionally
