R&D PROJECT MANAGEMENT ENGINEER
Job Overview
TE’s Corporate Technology Center is a corporate function that performs research and innovation projects to impact TE BU products and operations. The Singapore CTC group is chartered to perform collaborative research with corporate partners, research institutes or university partners, and we are looking for an experienced individual to join us. He/she will be working with TE BUs to define technology needs, scout for partners, and execute development or acquisition efforts in order to achieve set technical & business objectives. He/she will also administer contracts and budgets. The ideal candidate is trained in technical R&D, experienced in corporate R&D project planning and execution, and adept at interfacing partners and stakeholders.
Job Responsibilities
- Engage TE BUs, management and stakeholders to understand BU technology needs.
- Follow up with technology reviews and scouting efforts to find collaboration options, outlining proposed scope-of-work, partnership timeline and approach.
- Direct partners on development work, in line with objectives and within TE’s stage-gate framework. Act as liaison for project matters, conducting regular technical reviews and assessing needs/risks with mitigation as they arise.
- Dedicate time to scouting outreach efforts. Identify experts and potential development partners to help with ideation. Stay abreast of global technology developments through technology surveys, conferences and partner meetings, site visits and trials.
- Publicise innovation outcomes and manage stakeholders through various communication channels as needed, such as presentations, patent disclosures and conference manuscripts.
- Administers budget, legal and procurement matters, as needed e.g. supplier setup, NDAs, partnership agreements etc. Maintains documentation of project charter, technology review and project update files, throughout projects’ lifecycles.
- May be tasked with responsibilities of strategic nature, and/or manage interns / junior professional staff
Job Requirements
- Ph.D. / Masters in Engineering or Science.
- Is a domain expert with 5-8 years work experience involving design, materials and manufacturing process development.
- Has experience in managing projects involving local partners and experts. PMP certification can be advantageous.
- Able to travel 15 – 30% locally (site visits and meetings), and overseas occasionally (events, training and publicity).
- Effective in verbal/written forms communication.
