Reporting to the Business Unit VP of Engineering/CTO, TE Sensors Value Engineering Senior Manager will be responsible for driving cost reduction design improvements in our released products.  This position will focus the team on building and executing a pipeline of opportunities, with approximately 30 engineers in the combined teams located in multiple sites across the globe. Partnering with our manufacturing operations and procurement teams, the role will be to impact the business through designs that deliver both material and conversion savings. Findings and improvements will also be catalogued and included in future new product designs.

Requirements / Qualifications

  • The successful candidate will lead a global team of engineers to deliver quantified cost savings on released Sensor products through a combination of reduced material spend, conversion cost, and overall yield and quality improvement. S/he will establish a systematic method for generating ideas, executing the projects, sharing best practices, and measuring results.
  • Typical approaches will include cost research and competitive analysis, brainstorming workshops, and opportunity identification together with plant operations leaders and product management.

Knowledge / Skills / Leadership

  • Engineering degree along with experience across some of the following domains: electronics packaging, end of line testing, cost research, fab yield management.
  • 8+ years of experience in leading global engineering and/or manufacturing teams to deliver on-cost and on-quality product releases that scale readily into high volume production.
  • Understands the fundamental components of cost as calculated in a manufacturing environment.
  • Capably directs the implementation of changes that meet customer notification requirements as well as TE documentation requirements.
  • Demonstrates sound judgement in working through complex technical issues with ability to communicate actions and impact clearly to stakeholders including management, customers, and peers.
  • Strong collaborator, drives cross-functional solutions in strong partnership with Sensors Operations.
  • Capable leader, able to lead through systems while developing the next generation of global talent.
  • Able to translate financial goals into tangible and easy-to-understand targets for working teams to tackle.
