Job Overview
Reporting to the Director of CLS Core Technology, the Principal Engineer will support business growth via product innovation in both Home & Integrated Solution (HIS) and Lighting & Precision Connections (LPC) product portfolios. This individual will be Product Technology lead working on advanced ‘electromechanical interconnection’ projects with product engineers, customers, project management, product management, operations, procurement, quality, and other functions as required. The preferred candidate should be an expert in the design of interconnection products and have in depth knowledge of the associated manufacturing processes. They should also be comfortable providing technical product engineering direction and leading an innovation culture both internally and externally.

Responsibilities:
• Focal point for CLS business unit to provide technical direction and coaching on Product Technology
• Drive Product Technology innovation and execution in collaboration with LEAP project teams, ensuring milestone commitments are maintained and stakeholder reporting is completed
• Technical owner for LEAP process, working with PMO to implement new agile methodologies
• Lead for Technology Roadmap process, working with Technology Innovation Council to create roadmaps and Engineering Excellence to optimize the process
• Create strong customer relationships and facilitate technical influence
• Co-ordinate and execute Product Technology communications both internally and externally
• Share Technologies and collaborate on innovation across the enterprise
• Support M&A activities from a Product Technology perspective
• Collaborate on continuous improvement initiatives using TEOA
Qualifications / Professional Experience:
• A Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering required
• Minimum of 10 years of relevant industry experience
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
• Innovative mindset, ability to embed and foster agile innovative culture
• Expert in design and development of interconnection products using complex precision components
• Deep knowledge of associated manufacturing processes (molding, stamping, plating and assy)
• Knowledge of materials, finishes and contact physics related to interconnection design
• Knowledge of wire termination techniques (crimping, soldering, welding etc.)
• Experience with 3-D CAD, Digital simulation and rapid prototyping for product verification
• Experience of testing requirements and techniques for product qualification
• Knowledge of Voice of Customer, Design to Value, Design for Six Sigma, Design thinking, LEAN Manufacturing and Agile methodologies
• General knowledge of industry specifications such as UL, IEC, and EIA is desirable
• Knowledge of connector applications in appliances, or HVAC, or lighting, or smart cities, or motors is desirable
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills, ability to communicate Globally at all levels internally and externally.
• Must be self-motivated, highly organized, detail oriented and able to manage projects with minimal supervision. This includes multiple projects and multitask situations, with the ability to prioritize, set and achieve goals
• Ability to work as technical mentor and coach to Global engineering community
