Sr Manager Engineering - Automation
The Application Tooling team is seeking a Sr Engineering Manager to lead our Automation engineering activities.  This role will report to the CTO-Director of Engineering and be located in China.In this challenging and rewarding position, you will partner with various business functions locally and globally to refine and execute the business unit’s Automation strategy and to execute a portfolio of projects that are critical to the successful growth of the Application Tooling business.  You will work with senior management to define technical roadmaps aligned with market directions and communicate across other Business Units to share applicable technology.  You will identify relevant technology trends and opportunities, and  also develop relationships and partnerships with key customers, industry leaders and core suppliers. You will frequently collaborate internally with other engineering managers, project managers, product managers, manufacturing teams, quality engineers, and other functions to help ensure project alignment and prioritization to ensure on-time delivery of products and project deliverables. 

What your background should look like:

Primary Responsibilities: 
•    Provide guidance and technical leadership to the engineering team to design and manufacture automated equipment
•    Work with internal/outside suppliers and contract manufacturers to design, develop, manufacture, set up and qualify automation equipment and tooling.
•    Work closely with engineering managers in other regions and countries to ensure alignment to strategy and to share common practices and information
•    Coordinates and facilitates technical engineering related communications for internal & external partners.
•    Maintain and adhere to all appropriate safety specifications, regulatory requirements, business unit standards, and customer requirements. Assures proper documentation is stored within TE software systems
•    Understand and support our Company's/BU’s cybersecurity and data integrity policies and guidelines. Provide guidance to the team for appropriate procedures to ensure compliance with those policies. 
•    Support cross-functional reviews and analysis to provide recommendations to BU Leadership on long-term strategy
•    Drive a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and execution.
What your background should look like
•    Bachelor’s degree or above in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation or a related field.
•    5+ years of hands-on experience with automated equipment, robotics and precision mechanisms. Knowledge of PLC, machine controls, and/or vision systems is a plus.
•    3+ yrs of experience in leadership roles
•    Experience with cable assembly, terminal design, crimping or other wire termination technologies a plus
•    Proven track record of successfully driving engineering projects to meet business objectives on time and on budget
•    Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate clear project updates on a regular basis
•    High degree of adaptability; creative decision-making; and technical problem-solving abilities
•    Global work experience, working with multicultural and cross functional groups
•    Independent, self-starter – able to set agenda and drive progress with little direction
•    Capability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic global environment with multiple changing priorities.
•    Passion to create a solution for the customer
•    Financial Intelligence including evaluation of projects and business cases
•    Fluency in English required (read, write, and speak)
•    Ability to travel locally and internationally when required to support project objectives
