Job Overview
The Director of Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing regional strategies and programs that ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations. This role drives a culture of safety and sustainability across all functions, aligning with corporate objectives and regulatory requirements.
Job Requirements
• Strategic Leadership
o Establish and enforce EHS policies, procedures, and standards aligned with local/global regulations, corporate sustainability and operational goals.
o Define and execute EH&S strategy across multiple sites to reduce workplace incidents.
o Lead the integration of EHS into business planning and decision-making processes.
• Compliance & Risk Management
o Ensure adherence to local, national, and international environmental and occupational health regulations.
o Lead risk assessments, audits, and incident investigations to mitigate hazards and implement corrective actions.
• Program Development
o Oversee implementation of EH&S management systems (ISO 14001, ISO 45001).
o Develop and maintain emergency response plans, hazardous material handling protocols, and safety training programs.
• Training & Culture
o Promote safety culture through employee engagement, training programs, and communication initiatives.
o Drive continuous improvement in EH&S performance through behavior-based safety programs and management of change processes.
• Stakeholder Engagement
o Collaborate with senior leadership, regulatory agencies, internal stakeholders and external partners.
What your background should look like
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or related field.
• 20+ years of progressive EH&S experience, including leadership roles in manufacturing or industrial environments.
• Strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks and EH&S standards (ISO 14001, ISO 45001).
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence at all organizational levels.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Fluent in English; other regional languages is a plus.
• Frequent travel to office sites and production facilities.
