Job Overview

As a leading member of the Global Automotive Strategy team, you will support shaping the Automotive Business Unit’s portfolio composition and competitive strategy by being an advisor. Together with the Strategy team, you will work closely with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders to create shareholder value by helping address the most important strategic questions across the Business Unit. A particular focus in this role will be on supporting our diverse M&A activities.

Key responsibilities:

  • Support the Automotive leadership team in developing strategies that drive above-market organic and inorganic growth, ensuring cross-functional involvement and real-time input as the external environment changes (e.g., technology, customer needs, regulations, competitors, etc.)
  • Lead projects to help identify new growth drivers through uncovering attractive market spaces, but also optimize and transform the value of our portfolio determining what it takes to win, assessing competitive positioning and ultimately helping the organization to align on strategic direction and execution
  • Oversee the execution of approved collaboration assignments in alignment with all internal and external stakeholders (e.g., due diligence)
  • Ensure that the business strategies being developed clearly articulate the business choices, are well-defined, lay out talent and resource requirements and are implementable
  • Help support the strategic planning process and deepen strategic capabilities in the organization
  • Lead research and analysis for identifying and assessing inorganic opportunities


  • Masters’s degree in business, engineering or economics and experience in engineered-products industries (or similar qualification)
  • MBA or another advanced degree from a top program is preferred
  • 10+ years of cumulative business experience; 5+ years in a leading Management Consulting or M&A Consulting firm
  • Individual should be a strategy practitioner well versed in the theory and tools of strategy formulation as well as the practical implementation of strategy within a complex organization
  • Operational track record of dealing with strategic business issues including industry structure, functional strategies and M&A activities
  • Hands-on experience in continuous active portfolio management and in the execution of M&A projects
  • Familiarity with project management approaches, tools and phases of the project lifecycle – with experience applying these skills in managing teams and leading projects
  • A team player able to work with and through others with the ability to influence others and move toward a common vision or goal
  • High cross-cultural awareness
  • Automotive industry and international experience are highly preferred
  • Language: English fluency required, basic German skills are a plus
  • Travel: willingness to travel 20-30% in Europe based on business demand
