Job Overview

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer is a high energy, fast pace technical leader who is responsible for providing manufacturing engineering knowledge, skill, and experience to handle such tasks as: generating exceptional documentation, implementing DFM (design for manufacturability), lean manufacturing, process capability analysis, and yield / efficiency improvements.

Additionally, the Senior Manufacturing Engineer position is a team based function that is responsible for manufacturing support, process innovation and cost improvement. The focus of this position is on improvements in key operating metrics of: on-time delivery, machine utilization, scrap, productivity improvement, and process capability while ensuring full compliance to FDA QSR (21 CFR 820), and applicable ISO 13485 requirements.TEGTA16

Responsibilities & Qualifications

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer must be fully capable of performing:

· Demonstrate ISO13485 compliance.

· Establish manufacturable processes on projects exiting Design Services and/or Pilot Manufacturing.

· Ensure all project specifications are verifiable prior to transfer to Production.

· Hands-on implementation of Lean manufacturing techniques and use of the Theory of Constraints to optimize production throughput while maximizing labor utilization.

· Provide leadership, training and support to the facility operations in an effort to eliminate non-value added activities in all manufacturing and administrative processes and radically improve cycle times as they impact our customers.

· Implement process innovation, process development and improvement in terms of cost reduction and increase efficiencies on the production line.

· Perform, demonstrate, and train new employees on all pertinent manufacturing processes and quality requirements as required.

· Provide technical leadership in the areas assigned and provide "Design for Manufacturing" input to R&D, customers, and product commercialization teams.

· Design and implement new tooling, fixturing, and capital equipment.

· Write all essential documents (i.e. MPI’s, Inspection Plans, LHR’s, DMR’s, Validation Processes, and Calibration /PM Requirements) to FDA/other notified body standards.

· Work closely with R&D Engineering group to assist and coordinate project transfers from R&D phase to Manufacturing phase.

· Be familiar with product requirements, concept prototyping, design and development (including verification and validation), risk/failure mode assessment, performance and safety testing.

· Coordinate time and activities of others and/or serve as a project leader for cross-functional programs.

· Maintain detailed documentation throughout all phases of manufacturing development and transfer phases.

· Review or coordinate outside vendor activities to support development.

· Manage or develop technical solutions to design problems with vendors and in-house resources through design reviews, design audits, and prototype analysis.

· Interface with customers and internal departments articulating team activities and progress.

· Communicate effectively with customers under a variety of situations; including but not limited to project scope creep, financial situations, and missing/incomplete/unverifiable specifications.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Four year degree in an engineering or manufacturing field, and 5+ years minimum combined experience in a manufacturing or engineering position.  Excellent computer skills including Microsoft office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Minitab or other statistical software, Solid Works or AutoCAD software
