Global Senior Commodity Manager, Packaging and Finished Product Sourcing

Job Overview

TE Connectivity's Strategic Sourcing Teams develop and implement multi-year strategies for assigned commodities, suppliers and parts/services to achieve established goals in supplier quality, delivery, price and service. They align strategy and execution with cross-functional partners such as engineering, manufacturing, product management and functional owners. They execute the competitive bid, negotiation, contracting processes and/or technical continuous improvement for assigned commodities or services; collaborate across Business Units and cross-regions for optimal TE leverage. Our teams demonstrate a high level of expertise in procurement competencies (business/supply chain acumen, negotiation, sourcing strategy development and execution, global savvy, and project and product lifecycle management) and ensure results are delivered compliant with TE policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develops & implements the 3-5 year global commodity plan – strategy, in accordance with the Global needs and in alignment with the corporate commodity strategy
  • Assures market analysis are done in order to maintain a good knowledge of potential trends evolutions within the assigned commodity (new players, new technologies, etc.) 
  • Develops BCC share and grow the business in Asia
  • Responsible for developing a supplier base. Delivers Cost Reductions road map 
  • Provides Engineering design guidance, tools and alternatives for the selection of desirables grades and classifications of material in new and ongoing designs. This includes identification of new materials and suppliers for Regional and local Leverage
  • Manages a team (4 direct reports, 11 Indirect)
  • Responsible for leading attainment of annual business results (ex. Cost savings, supplier performance and compliance) for responsible commodities, including developing and leading leverage price and terms negotiations with potential and current suppliers
  • Assures valid and accurate inputs such as commodity forecasts and budget targets are provided to / from BU, corporate and finance teams (and to suppliers) proactively per required dates
  • Builds and utilizes communications channels with Regional BU leadership to understand BU commodity performance needs, service level requirements and measures/communicates results
  • Coordinates supplier evaluations, including inspection plan development, monitoring supplier quality, delivery, and conformance to requirements

What your background should look like:

  • Strong business acumen as well as analytical abilities to assess complex data
  • 7+ years of experience managing sourcing projects and prioritizing multiple key activities in strategic/direct purchasing
  • Experience in cost analysis, price breakdowns
  • Experience in Contract Management
  • Supplier Management & Strong negotiation skills
  • Strong sense of intuition and ability to anticipate outcomes of actions, variables and decisions
  • Ability to influence with & without direct authority
  • Critical thinking & curiosity
  • Strong potential and willingness to grow within Procurement organization
  • Team Player
